Amongst the post-WWII higher education structures the modern contributions to the Oxford colleges in the 1960s has a significant position. They are characterised by quality designs and interesting building histories. From early 1990s onwards these structures came to the terms of being listed, but all in very different dates and grades. Some very significant structures were not even regarded fit for listing. This dissertation tries to explain the reasons behind such different treatments in the listing practice and find some answers to the question of what determines the architectural and historic significance differences while designating a building as listed. For this aim three case study buildings were picked: St. Catherine's College, The Blue Boar Quad of the Christ Church and the Florey Building at the Queen's College. A special care was taken for the case study buildings to reflect variety. It was through this variety that the complicated issue of listing the post-WWII heritage in general was tried to be explained. Word count: 19,426
