Özet
Günümüzde bilişim dünyasındaki gelişmeler her alanda olduğu gibi yabancı dil öğretimi açısından da önemli katkılar sağlayabilecek seviyeye ulaşmış durumdadır. İlk olarak 1980'li yıllarda kullanılmaya başlanan bilgisayar destekli dil öğrenimi, öğrenen ve öğretici arasındaki etkileşimi iyileştirici bir unsur haline gelmiş, yabancı dil öğrenimi süreçlerine oldukça olumlu katkılar sağlamıştır. Bilgisayar desktekli eğitimin esnek eğitim planları oluşturma yeteneklerinin bulunmayışı, kişiselleştirilmiş eğitim imkanı sağlamak konusundaki yetersizlikleri ise Akıllı Öğretici Sistemlerin ortaya açıkmasına neden olmuştur. Akıllı Öğretici Sistemler, öğrenci ve öğretmen arasındaki ilişkiyi model alan, özel ve esnek eğitim materyalleri sağlayabilen bilgisayar programlarının genel adıdır. Son yıllarda Akıllı Öğretici Sistemlerinin etkinliğinin arttırılması amacıyla yapay zeka uygulamaları ile donatılması ise giderek yaygınlaşan bir seyir izlemektedir. Bu çalışmada, ilk olarak, yabancı dil eğitiminde yapay zeka destekli Akıllı Öğretici Sistemlerinin genel yapısı hakkında bilgi verilmiş, daha sonra bir Akıllı Öğretici Sistemin oluşum aşamaları anlatılmış ve son olarak da web tabanlı bir Akıllı Öğretici Sisteminin yabancı dil (İngilizce) öğretimi alanındaki bir uygulaması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Akıllı Öğretici Sistemlerin uygulanması aşamasında karşılaşılan en yaygın sorunlar, gerçek anlamda öğrenci tabanlı, esnek ve dinamik yapıya sahip olan ve bu özellikleri sayesinde öğrenci modellemesini en iyi şekilde gerçekleştirebilen bir sistemin oluşturulmasıdır. Bu çalışmada geliştirilen Akıllı Öğretici Sisteminin öğrenci modellemesi ve karar verme süreçleri yapay zeka uygulamalarından Bayes ağları kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Yabancı dil eğitimindeki hedef dile ait dilbilimsel olgular ve spesifik bir konu bütünlüğü çerçevesinde sistemin içeriği tasarlanarak öğrenci modellemesi konusunda belirsizliği en aza indirebilmek üzere Bayes ağları ile oluşturulmuş bir öğrenci modelinin oluşturulması hedeflenmiştir. Çalışmanın sonunda oluşturulan sistem, yalnız başına çalışan, bir öğretmen eşliğinde çalışan ve akıllı öğretici sistemi kullanan öğrenci grubu olmak üzere 3 farklı grup ile test edilmiştir. Yapılan değerlendirme sonucunda akıllı öğretici sistem ile çalışan öğrencilerin başarı ortalaması %73 olurken, bir öğretmen eşliğinde çalışan grubun başarı oranı %76 olmuştur. Yalnız çalışan öğrenci grubunun başarı oranı ise %58'de kalmıştır. Bu değelendirme ile geliştirilen akıllı öğretici sistemin etkinliğinin oldukça yüksek olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.

Nowadays, the developments in the world of information have reached a level that can provide important contributions in terms of foreign language education as well as in all different fields. Computer-assisted language learning, which was first introduced in the 1980s, has become an important element of interaction between learners and teachers, and has made a very positive contribution to foreign language learning processes. The lack of the ability of computer-assisted instructions to create flexible training plans, and the lack of personalized instructional training, led to the emergence of Intelligent Tutoring Systems. Intelligent Tutoring Systems is the general name of computer programs that can provide specific and flexible educational materials and that uses the relationship between students and teachers a model. In recent years, it has become increasingly common to equip Intelligent Tutorial Systems with artificial intelligence applications with the purpose of increasing their effectiveness. In this study, firstly,a brief information about the general structure of Intelligent Tutorial Systems supported by artificial intelligence in foreign language education was given, then the steps of formation of a Intelligent Tutoring System were explained and finally an application of a web based Intelligent Tutorial System in the field of foreign language (English) teaching was created. The most common problems encountered during the implementation of Intelligent Tutorial Systems are the creation of a system that has a student-based, flexible and dynamic structure in a real sense, and which can optimally model the student through these features. The student modeling and decision-making processes of the Intelligent Tutoring System implemented in this study were created using Bayesian networks which is one of the artificial intelligence applications. It is aimed to construct a student model formed with Bayesian networks in order to reduce the uncertainty in student modeling by designing the content of the system within the context of linguistic phenomena and a specific topic of target language in foreign language education. The system developed at the end of the study was tested with 3 different groups: the group of students who worked alone, students who worked with a teacher and the students who used the system. As a result of the evaluation, the average success rate of the students working with the system was 73%, while the success rate of the group working with a teacher was 76%. The success rate of the students who studied alone remained at 58%. With this evaluation, it has been concluded that the effectiveness of the intelligent tutoring system developed in this study is quite high.
