Özet (Çeviri)
There is widespread evidence that efficiency of logistics systems is one of the significant determinants of bilateral trade, but the magnitude of the effect may vary according to different industry groups. This paper presents the findings of a gravity model which is empirically tested to assess the extent to which logistics performance dimensions constitute a facilitator to international trade for varied industry groups. Gravity model basically an equation which uses the economic sizes (GDP sizes) and distance between these two countries to have a forecast of the bilateral trade flow between these two countries. In this paper, relative impact of various logistics performance dimensions on trade is compared and explore the differences in different industry groups. For an assessment of country's logistics performances, the data from the World Bank's Logistics Performance Index (LPI) is used. The focus in this article is similar to previous studies in the conclusion that efficiency of a country's logistics system is important for trade performance, yet it differs in adopting a different industry groups focused approach with an in-depth analysis of the impact of various logistics performance dimensions, such as customs procedures, quality of the infrastructure, and competence of logistics services, price of the shipment, trace ability, and also customs clearance. Findings of this article contribute to the assessment of the impact of logistics performance on trade growth, thereby improving the understanding of the potential contribution of logistics performance improvement efforts, relative to other determinants of trade. Research is extended through analysis of the Logistic Performance Index dimensions with the bilateral trade of different industry groups. Afterward, with the results of the analysis, decisionmaking strategies and models are developed to surge bilateral trade with focusing on the most significant LPI dimensions. Finally, the most efficient strategy is decided on for implementation to increase.
