Interrogators use specific interrogation techniques towards suspects to elicit a confession. However, not all techniques have been efficient or applicable to all types of criminals. For example, interrogators may need different techniques to serial killers due to their high manipulative and lying skills. Therefore, in the current study, we focused on which are the most effective methods while eliciting a confession from a serial killer. For this purpose, confession transcripts of 4 serial killers have been analysed in detail. As a result, it has been found that building rapport and relationship techniques help shifting the suspects' attitude level from avoidant to cooperative more than other techniques. Also, each technique can be useful for each serial killer, which means some of the suspects had not responded to any technique whereas some had responded to nearly all of them.
