Özet
Kavalalı Mehmet Ali Paşa (d.1770-ö.1848) Osmanlı Devleti tarihine damga vurmuş önemli şahsiyetlerden birisidir. Sadece askeri yönüyle değil, Mısır'a vali olduktan sonra da hükümranlığı süresince (1805-1848) sosyal yapıda yaptığı reformlar ile de günümüzde hala Mısır tarihinde önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Yüzyıllar içerisinde birçok farklı devlet tarafından birçok farklı anlayışla yönetilen Mısır'da eğitim, Antik Çağ'lardan beri kurumsal anlamda var olmakla beraber özellikle 19. Y.y'dan sonra değişen siyasi yapı nedeniyle de reforma uğramıştır. Bu reformlar neticesinde, birçok kurum gibi okullar da reforma uğramış; modernleşmiş, yenilenmiş ve değişime uğramıştır. Özellikle Kavalalı Mehmet Ali Paşa döneminde sadece askeri okullar değil sosyal ve mesleki hayata yönelik modern okullar açılmış, bu okulların açılmasında yurt dışından gelen eğitimcilerden yardımlar alınmıştır. Osmanlı Devleti'nin bir vilayeti olan Mısır'da yapılan modernleşme hareketi Osmanlı Devleti'nin ilgisini çekmiş ve özellikle Kavalalı Mehmet Ali Paşa'nın yaptığı tüm reformlar dikkatle takip edilmiştir. Bu reformlarda etkilenen Osmanlı Devleti'de buna benzer reformları kendi ülkesinde gerçekleştirirken Mısır ve Kavalalı Mehmet Ali Paşa'dan örnekler almıştır. Tezimizde aynı zamanda Mısır'ın tarihinde yer alan ve önem arz eden okullara ve Mısır'da ki eğitimin antik çağlardan itibaren nasıl şekil aldığı da bir bölümde incelenmiştir. Bu tez Osmanlı Devleti'nin modernleşmesinde Kavalalı Mehmet Ali Paşa'nın eğitim alanın yaptığı reformlar ve açtığı okullar neticesinde incelenmeye çalışılmıştır.

Mehmed Ali Pasha of Egypt (b.1770-d.1848) is one of the important personalities who left their mark on the history of the Ottoman Empire. Not only with its military aspect, but also with the reforms he made in the social structure during his reign (1805-1848) after he became the governor of Egypt, he still occupies an important place in the history of Egypt. Education in Egypt, which has been managed with many different understandings by many different states over the centuries, has existed in an institutional sense since ancient times, but it has also been reformed due to the changing political structure, especially after the 19th century. As a result of these reforms, schools, like many institutions, were also reformed; modernized renewed and changed. Especially during the reign of Mehmed Ali Pasha of Egypt, not only military schools, but also modern schools for social and professional life were opened, and help was received from educators from abroad in the opening of these schools. The modernization movement in Egypt, a province of the Ottoman Empire, attracted the attention of the Ottoman Empire and all the reforms made by Mehmed Ali Pasha of Egypt were carefully followed. While the Ottoman Empire, which was affected by these reforms, carried out similar reforms in its own country, it took examples from Egypt and Mehmed Ali Pasha of Egypt. In our thesis, the schools that are important and located in the history of Egypt and how education in Egypt has taken shape since ancient times are also examined in a section. This thesis has been tried to be examined as a result of the reforms made by Mehmed Ali Pasha of Egypt in the field of education and the schools he opened in the modernization of the Ottoman Empire.
