Özet (Çeviri)
With the significant increase of advanced technologies in the architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) industry, sustainable development through the industry is gaining increased and considerable momentum. As a new concept to transform the AEC industry, Building Information Modelling (BIM) has begun to grasp the sustainable development aspects; social, economic and environmental throughout the building life cycle. Energy efficiency in the built environment is a current issue that needs to be discussed in order to develop long-term strategies with introducing effective refurbishment measures for a more comprehensive energy policy. Although there has been a growing interest of implementing BIM technologies in construction projects, the majority of existing building stock is not refurbished not only in the UK, but worldwide yet. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the main benefits and challenges of implementing BIM for energydriven refurbishments in the UK housing sector. This study reviews sustainability and BIM outlooks with their key elements influencing energy-efficient retrofitting processes in existing buildings. The research methodology adopted a case study approach to identifying BIM implementation processes regarding sustainable refurbishment projects. The research strategy proposed for a comparative analysis between the chosen case studies was developed to critically evaluate the case studies' findings concerning the reviewed focal literature. The key findings of the study indicated that implementing BIM in refurbishment projects has an integral role to play in accurate 3D building surveying, improved productivity, better coordination, scheduling, cost estimating, energy analysis, and facility management throughout building life cycle. The research findings contribute to the understanding of the utilising BIM in sustainable refurbishment projects and also fill an existing gap in knowledge about the BIM implementation strategies to achieve a desirable energy efficiency and low carbon emissions in the built environment
