Özet (Çeviri)
The current civilization faces the threat of global warming and has to enforce a sustainable way of living. Residential buildings encapsulate a major part of the construction field and consumption, therefore it is essential to follow the same philosophy. The thesis focuses on the search of a new approach towards residential architecture through the application of unorthodox building material: tensile membranes. It encourages the transformation of the residential buildings in the same way as it is already visible in other building typologies. The thesis investigates several aspects, which are essential for the development of a sustainable project and the well-being of the inhabitants such as thermal and acoustic comfort. Unlike other building materials, tensile membranes behave unconventionally and are not only beneficial but also act as a limitation in certain aspects. This behaviour is evident from the narrow extent of application in residential buildings which is visible in the collection of case studies that were assembled to demonstrate current solutions as well as to inspire during the project phase. In the project, we proposed an architectural solution which embodies the key features of the selected materials. The project was elaborated through an inverted process starting from the smallest scale to the largest - that is, from the technological detail to the typological articulation up to the insertion in the urban context - which was essential given the character of the materials. The proposal represents the current possibilities, highlights the limitations and opens up a discussion about the future improvements of the material itself and sustainable housing
