Instructional video has been widely used as an effective means of providing learning to students in higher education. Moreover, it is a means of providing learning to students using technology. Teachers and lecturers have reported that such videos are an effective medium for delivering education. However, controversies remain regarding their effectiveness and impact. This study therefore investigated the effect and impact of instructional videos on higher education based on self-reported evidence from lecturers. Four university and college lecturers took part in a semistructured interview for this research. The results showed that lecturers found instructional videos to be an effective means of providing learning to students in higher education. The impact of such videos on higher education and the learning of students was therefore positive. However, despite the benefits instructional video technology brings to the education sector, a lack of necessary skills has contributed to the ineffective use of this technology. Although several teachers and lecturers have adopted instructional videos as a medium for learning, a significant number lack the skills, competencies, experience, and understanding necessary to use instructional videos efficiently in classrooms. It is therefore recommended that teachers should adopt strategies to keep the length of videos short yet informative so that students remain attentive. Additionally, lecturers felt that a segmented presentation of videos and lectures was a very effective way to deliver educational material to the students.
