Özet (Çeviri)
Background: Excessive gestational weight gain is an important public health issue. Milk and milk products can play a crucial role in a balanced diet during pregnancy. Many studies have also indicated that there may be a connection between milk intake, calcium intake and weight management. This project focused on the association between milk and cheese intake during pregnancy and decreased risk of excessive gestational weight gain. Methods: Participants were recruited from Nottingham University Hospitals Trust antenatal clinic as part of the MAGIC study. Questionnaires created and used by the MAGIC project team met the study needs, alongside the DINE (The Dietary Instrument for Nutrition Education) food frequency questionnaire were completed at twelve, twenty and thirty-two weeks of pregnancy. Scatter diagrams and Spearman correlation coefficients were used to determine the relationship between milk/cheese intake and risk of excessive gestational weight gain. Results: Almost half of the women (50.0% at week 32 in the first group; 47.1% at week 32 in the second group; and 50% at week 32 in the third group) consumed about half a pint or more of milk per day. Excessive weight gain between week 12 and week 32 of pregnancy and between week 20 and week 32 of pregnancy and during pregnancy up to week 32 was prevalent in 60.5% of women in the first group (n=38), 72.5% of women in the second group (n=51), and 68.1% of women in the third group (n=71). A weak positive correlation was found only between milk and cheese intake at week 32 and EGWG risk (correlation coefficient= 0.219, p= 0.186). Apart from this, all associations were either very weak positive correlations or very weak negative correlations (p>0.1). Conclusions: Although the study has not successfully demonstrated any correlation between adequate milk and cheese intake during pregnancy and risk of EGWG, it has several key findings, including low milk consumption during pregnancy and high prevalence of EGWG. 4 Declaration of original work I hereby declare that work contained herewith is original and is entirely my own work (unless indicated otherwise).
