Özet (Çeviri)
This dissertation examines the extensive growth of hydro-electric plants in Turkey within the context of the privatisation of the commons. In this respect, this study is framed between the commons, the neoliberalism discussion, and the influence of the international organisations of privatisation. In order to explore these issues, my theoretical backdrop is informed by sources such as legal and official documents of privatisation; data and statistics of hydro plants and privatisation; and international declarations signed by the Turkish government are analysed. This dissertation argues that Turkey's free-flowing water has being privatised by building large number of hydro plants in river basins. In order to support my argument that Turkish neoliberalism has privatised water, this dissertation will critically address the role of international organisations and the Turkish state in privatisation of commons by elaborating theories of scholars like Ostrom, Linebaugh and Harvey with the findings. The main objective is to understand the considerable growth of the hydro plants building in Turkey and why it is happening at this juncture of Turkey's development.
