Sustainability has become important in large industries with an increasing population and decreasing resources. In addition to producing natural and environmentally friendly energy, saving energy in the same ways supports sustainability. Using insulation materials is an important stage for energy saving. Environmentally friendly and sustainable materials used in the production of insulation materials also contribute to this stage. In this study, binding agents added to fibre which is a natural fiber used as insulation material were compared. Cement and oak wood ash which may be an alternative to it were used for this. Cylinder samples consisting of 100% cement, 100% oak wood ash and 50% cement 50% oak ash were prepared as binders. Air and carbon dioxide curing methods were applied to the prepared samples. The compressive strengths, densities, and XRD analysis of the samples at 7, 14 and 28 days were compared. The compressive strength and density of the samples containing oak wood are considerably lower than the samples containing cement. Oak ash is more suitable to be used as an additive rather than the main binder.
