Özet
ÖZ Bu araştırmanın amacı özel eğitim öğretmen adaylarının merhamet ve etkili öğretmenlik özelliklerine sahip olma durumları arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesidir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2019-2020 yılı bahar döneminde Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti'nde bulunan, Lefkoşa ve Girne bölgesinde bulunan üniversitelerin özel eğitim bölümünde okumakta olan özel eğitim öğretmen adayları oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada özel eğitim öğretmen adaylarının merhamet düzeyleri ve etkili öğretmen özelliklerinin belirlenmesi amaçlandığından nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya 315 özel eğitim öğretmen adayı katılmıştır. Araştırmada, özel eğitim öğretmen adaylarına“Kişisel Bilgi Formu”, Akdeniz ve Deniz (2016) tarafından Türkçe geçerlik-güvenirlik çalışması yapılan“Merhamet Ölçeği”ve Ay ve Yurdabakan (2015) tarafından geliştirilmiş olan“Etkili Öğretmen Özellikleri”ölçekleri uygulanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde ve yorumlanmasında ise Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 25.0 versiyonu kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre, kadın özel eğitim öğretmen adaylarının, erkek özel eğitim öğretmen adaylarına göre merhamet düzeylerinin daha yüksek çıktığı görülmüştür. Araştırmaya alınan öğrencilerin cinsiyetine göre Etkili Öğretmen Özellikleri Ölçeğinden aldıkları puanlar arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde bir fark olduğu tespit edilmiştir (p<0,05). Aynı zamanda etkili öğretmen özellikleri ölçeğinden kadın öğretmen adaylarının, erkek öğretmen adaylarına göre aldıkları puanların daha yüksek olduğu görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin merhamet düzeylerinin yaş grubuna göre bakıldığında ise, 18-20 yaşlarındaki öğrencilerin 24 yaş ve üzerindeki öğretmen adaylarına oranla daha yüksek olduğu görülmüştür. Özel eğitim öğretmen adaylarının özel eğitim bölümünü tercih etmelerinde ailelerin bakış açısına göre merhamet ölçeğinden almış oldukları puanlar arasında anlamlı olmadığı görülmüştür. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin yakın çevresinde özel gereksinimli birey/ler olup olmama durumuna göre Merhamet Ölçeğinin tüm alt boyutları olan Sevecenlik, Umursamazlık, Paylaşımların Bilincinde Olma, Bağlantısızlık, Bilinçli Farkındalık ve İlişki Kesme boyutlarından aldıkları puanlar arasında istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı seviyede bir fark olmadığı saptanmıştır (p>0,05). Araştırmada öğrencilerin aile yapısına göre Merhamet Ölçeğinin Bağlantısızlık alt boyutundan aldıkları puanlar arasındaki farkın istatistiksel olarak anlamlı seviyede olduğu belirlenmiştir (p<0,05). Geniş aile yapısına sahip katılımcıların Bağlantısızlık boyutu puanları, çekirdek aile ve parçalanmış aile yapısına sahip olan diğer katılımcıların puanlarından daha yüksektir. Araştırmadaki öğrencilerin Etkili Öğretmen Özellikleri Ölçeğinden aldıkları puanlar ile Merhamet Ölçeğinin Sevecenlik, Paylaşımların Bilincinde Olma ve Bilinçli Farkındalık alt boyutlarından aldıkları puanlar arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ve pozitif yönlü korelasyonlar saptanmıştır (p<0,05). Buna göre, öğrencilerin Etkili Öğretmen Özellikleri Ölçeğinden aldıkları puanlar arttıkça Sevecenlik, Paylaşımların Bilincinde Olma ve Bilinçli Farkındalık puanları da artmaktadır. Araştırma kapsamındaki öğrencilerin Etkili Öğretmen Özellikleri Ölçeğinden aldıkları puanlar ile Merhamet Ölçeğinin Umursamazlık, Bağlantısızlık ve İlişki Kesme alt boyutlarından aldıkları puanlar arasında ise istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ve negatif yönlü korelasyonlar tespit edilmiştir (p<0,05). Buna göre, katılımcıların Etkili Öğretmen Özellikleri Ölçeğinden aldıkları puanlar arttıkça Umursamazlık, Bağlantısızlık ve İlişki Kesme puanları azalmaktadır.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study is to examine the relationship between compassion and effective teaching qualities of special education pre-service teachers. The study group of the research consists of the special education pre-service teachers studying in the special education department of the universities in Nicosia and Kyrenia regions in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the spring term of 2019-2020. Since it was aimed to determine the compassion levels and effective teacher qualities of special education pre-service teachers in the study, the surveying model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used. 315 special education pre-service teachers participated in the study. In the research, the“Personal Information Form”, the“Compassion Scale”of which Turkish validity and reliability study was conducted by Akdeniz and Deniz (2016), and the“Effective Teacher Qualities”scale developed by Ay and Yurdabakan (2015) were applied to the special education pre-service teachers. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25.0 was used for the analysis and interpretation of the data. According to the results of the study, it was observed that female special education pre-service teachers had higher levels of compassion than male special education teacher candidates. It was found out that there is a statistically significant difference between the scores of the students included in the study from the Effective Teacher Characteristics Scale according to their gender (p <0.05). At the same time, it was observed that the scores of female pre-service teachers on the effective teacher qualities scale were higher than male pre-service teachers. When the compassion levels of the students were examined by age group, it was observed that the scores of the students aged 18-20 were higher than the pre-service teachers aged 24 and over. It was observed that the scores of the special education teacher candidates in choosing the special education department were not significant according to the perspective of the families. It was determined that there was no statistically significant difference between the scores of the students participating in the study from Humaneness, Carelessness, Consciousness of Shares, Disconnection, Conscious Awareness, and Dissociation, all of which are sub-dimensions of the Compassion Scale, depending on whether there is an individual / s with special needs in their immediate environment (p> 0.05). In the study, it was determined that the difference between the scores obtained by students from the Disconnection sub-dimension of the Compassion Scale was statistically significant (p <0.05) according to their family structure. The disconnection dimension scores of the participants with extended family structure were higher than the scores of the participants with nuclear family and broken family structure. A statistically significant and positive correlation was found between the scores of the students in the Effective Teacher Qualities Scale and the scores they received from the Humaneness, Consciousness of Shares and Conscious Awareness sub-dimensions of the Compassion Scale (p <0.05). Accordingly, as the scores of the students from the Effective Teacher Traits Scale increase, their Humaneness, Consciousness of Shares and Conscious Awareness scores also increase. Statistically significant and negative correlations were found between the scores of the students within the scope of the study from the Effective Teacher Qualities Scale and the scores obtained from the indifference, disconnection and breaking-off sub-dimensions of the Compassion Scale (p <0.05). Accordingly, as the scores received by the participants from the Effective Teacher Qualities Scale increase, their scores of indifference, disconnection and breaking-off decrease.
