Özet
Bilim kurgu sineması, gelecek hikâyeleri inşa eden bir tür olarak düşünülür. Ancak sadece gelecek üzerine kurulu hikâyeler anlatmanın aksine, geçmişte yaşanmış tarihsel ve toplumsal olayları da anlatmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın konusu, bilim kurgu sinemasının tarihsel ve toplumsal olaylarla olan ilişkisidir. Bu tarihsel ve toplumsal olaylar; sömürgecilik, direniş ve koloni hareketleridir. Sömürgecilik, direniş ve koloni hareketleri insanlık tarihi boyunca varlığını sürdürmüş olsa da çalışma kapsamında Avrupalı devletlerin 15. yüzyılda başlatmış olduğu coğrafi keşifler ve sonrasında Amerika Kıtası'na yönelik başlatılan sömürgecilik hareketleri dönemi ve sonrasındaki dönem incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın ilk bölümünde, bir tür olarak bilim kurgu incelenerek türün, dinamikleri olan, bilim, edebiyat ve sinemanın bilim kurgu sineması ile olan ilişkisi ortaya konmuştur. Bilim kurgu sinemasının temel ögeleri olan alt türler ve temalar tanımlanmıştır. Tezin odak noktasını oluşturan sömürgecilik, direniş ve koloni hareketleri olguları incelenmiş ve tanımlanmıştır. Türün toplumsal ve tarihsel süreç içerisinde, geçmişte yaşanmış olaylardan nasıl etkilendiğinin anlaşılması için ise; bilim kurgu sinemasının biçim ve içerik olarak değişmesine neden olan toplumsal olaylar, olgular tanımlanmış ve incelenmiştir. İkinci bölümde ise çalışma kapsamında örneklem olarak seçilen filmler, film inceleme yöntemi olan tarihsel film eleştirisi ekseninde incelenmiştir. Bu yöntemin seçilme nedeni ise; seçilen filmlerin geçmişte yaşanmış tarihsel ve toplumsal olgular olan sömürgecilik, direniş ve koloni hareketlerini, bilim kurgu sinemasına ait kodlar ile yeniden üreterek bilim kurguya özgü bir biçim kazandırmış olmasıdır.

Science fiction cinema is considered a genre that constructs future stories. But instead of telling stories based only on the future, it also tells the historical and social events that happened in the past. The subject of this research is the relationship of science fiction cinema with historical and social events. These historical and social cases; colonialism, resistance and colonial movements. Colonialism, resistance and colonial movements has existed throughout human history. However, within the scope of the study, the geographical discoveries initiated by the European states in the 15th century, the period of colonial movements initiated towards the Americas, and the period after it were examined. In the first part of the study, science fiction as a genre will be examined; the relationship between science, literature and cinema, which are the dynamics of the genre, with science fiction cinema has been revealed. Sub-genres and themes, which are the basic elements of science fiction cinema, are defined. The phenomena of colonialism, resistance and colonial movements, which are the focus of the thesis, are examined and defined. In order to understand how the genre is affected by past events in the social and historical process, social events and phenomena that cause science fiction cinema to change in form and content are defined and examined. In the second part, the films are selected as samples within the scope of the study were examined in the axis of historical film criticism, which is a film analysis method. The reason for choosing this method; that the selected films have given a genre-specific form by reproducing colonialism, resistance and colonial movements, which are historical and social phenomena in the past, with codes belonging to science fiction cinema.
