Özet (Çeviri)
The novel COVID-19 pandemic and the government imposed measures/lockdowns have led drastic changes in individual's daily lives and their well-being as well as their opportunities for prosocial behavior. This study investigated the adolescents' and student's experiences of prosocial tendencies and how these tendencies changed over the course of the pandemic more specifically, at two timepoints (from May 2020 (T1) to November 2020 (T2)), with potential mediating effects of the COVID-19 related anxiety. 485 adolescents and 443 students between the ages of 10-25 were recruited and at both timepoints (T1 and T2) they received online questionnaires every weekday for two consecutive weeks. Prosocial tendencies were measures using the dire subscale of the Prosocial Tendencies Revised and the COVID-19 related anxiety was measured using the Pandemic Questionnaire. The results revealed that prosocial tendencies at multiple timepoints during the pandemic were not statistically significantly different from each other, indicating that adolescents' prosocial tendencies remained stable throughout the pandemic. The adolescent and student samples did not differ statistically significantly from each other in terms of their prosocial tendencies at both timepoints. Moreover, while controlling for the COVID-19 related anxiety, the prosocial tendency scores at T1 were a significant predictor of prosocial tendency scores at T2. That was the case for both samples and it is found that there was no mediation effect of COVID-19 related anxiety for the adolescents and the students. There is still room for improvement in which how various types of prosocial behaviors are affected by the pandemic and what are long-term effects of the pandemic on those various types of prosocial tendencies for different samples.
