Özet
Aristoteles'in deyimiyle“doğası gereği bir politik canlı”olan insan evriminin en eski tarihinden bu yana toplumsal birlikler kurmuştur. Bu toplumsal birliklerin kuruluşunun ve evriminin biyolojik, toplumsal ve politik temellerinin bilimsel açıklaması Platon ve Aristoteles'ten bize ulaşan felsefi metinlerde verilenlerle büyük ölçüde uyumludur. Özellikle İÖ V. yüzyılda Atina'da yaşanmış olan kent (Polis) deneyimi bireyin ait olduğu toplumla ilişkisi içinde kendini gerçekleştirmesi bakımından politikanın önemini gösteren somut tarihsel bir örnektir. Bu tarihsel deneyimin koşullarını ve nedenlerini hazırlayan olaylar aynı coğrafyada eş zamanlı olarak dönemin belirleyici entelektüel birikimi olarak eğitsel kültür olan Paideianın doğuşuna da olanak sağlamıştır. Paideia kent (Polis) ile yurttaş (polites) arasındaki iletişimin, dolayısıyla politikanın amacı olan yurttaş eğitiminin zemini oluşturur. Akla dayalı sözün (Logos) saygınlığını kazanmasıyla ortaya çıkan Polis Paideianın kaynakları üzerine kurduğu retoriğiyle politesi etkin katılıma ikna etmektedir. Bu retorik politik birliğin korunması ve geliştirilmesi bakımından belirleyici olmuştur.

The man being“naturally a political animal”as quoted by Aristoteles had to build up a social unities since the earliest history of his evolution. The scientific explanation of the biological, social and political basis of construction and evolution of these social unities are mostly in accordance with what was suggested in the philosophical textes herited from Platon and Aristoteles. The Polis experience especialy in Athens of 5th Century BC was a concrete historical example showing how important is politics to build up the individual in her relation with the society that she belongs. The facts preparing the conditions and causes of this historical experience have simultaniously provided with the possibilty of the birth of Paideia, as the intelectual accumulation of the age. Paideia forms the basis of the communication between Polis and polites therefore the education of the polites which is the aim of the politics. Polis, appearing following the prestige of logos persuades the polites for an active contribution by rethoric that she has built on the ressources of Paideia. This rethoric was definitive to protect and develop the politic unity.
