ABSTRACT In every country, regions differ from each other in economic and level of development. This difference is respectively more in developing countries than in developed ones. After industry revolution, concentration of capital and qualified labor unequally on certain regions and centers caused the regional differences in development. In order to compensate the differences between developed and underdeveloped regions, and to make rational use of the sources, regional planning studies were encouraged. Spatial pattern relations discussed within the planning process at regional scale, which started with regional planning studies made an important data for the realization of investments in the most economic way. In this survey, by introducing the spatial organization structure of the sub region of K. Menderes River Basin, its spatial relations were discussed. In order to make efficient use of the criteria like distribution and rational use of the potential sources, which was one of the main factors of regional development; city functions and functional relations were created. Through an evaluation of the data in question based on usage frequency of functions, rank size distribution and effective limits of residential areas were outlined. The relations which caused the spatial pattern of the region and its rank size distribution were discussed through both investment power and relations of interest.In addition, suggestions were listed for the development policies within the course of its characteristic structure and potential sources.
