Özet (Çeviri)
Factors such as access to adequate food, the need for healthy nutrition increase, globalisation, and the change in dietary preferences are closely related to the red meat sector and its trade. Growing demand for red meat varieties, especially in developed countries, necessitated the examination of this sector in every aspect. This study compared the defined red meat varieties (beef, lamb, mutton and pork) trade of Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom (UK), which are important stakeholders in world red meat production, against the EU-27, an essential market in the red meat trade. It is aimed to determine whether these countries have a comparative advantage (CA) and competitiveness in the EU-27 market. The study covers the years from 2005 to 2021. Import and export data of the countries used in the study were obtained from the INTRACEN (TRADEMAP) database. According to this study, Australia has a comparative advantage (CA) and revealed competitiveness (RC) in the beef and mutton trade in the EU-27 market. However, Australia has a partial CA in lamb and does not have a CA in pork. It is found that New Zealand has a CA and RC against the EU-27 in beef, mutton, and lamb exports, while there is no competitiveness and CA in pork. The UK has no CA in beef and pork, has no competitive power and is a net importer of beef and pork. However, it is detected that the UK has a CA and RC against the EU-27 in the lamb and mutton trade and is found to be competitive.
