Özet
Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, özel eğitim öğretmenlerinin alternatif ve destekleyici iletişim (ADİ) sistemleri hakkındaki görüşlerini incelemektir. Yöntem: Bu araştırma, her bir özel eğitim öğretmeninin deneyimlerine derinlemesine bir bakış sağlamak için nitel araştırma yaklaşımı desenlerinden biri olan temel nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın katılımcıları Ankara ili Etimesgut ilçesindeki okullarda görev yapan özel eğitim öğretmenlerinden oluşmaktadır. Araştırma kapsamında katılımcılarla yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler içerik analizi yaklaşımı kullanılarak çözümlenmiştir. Elde edilen verilerin analizi sonucunda altı tema ve 14 alt temaya ulaşılmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırmanın bulguları iletişim yetersizliğinden etkilenen çocuklarla çalışan özel eğitim öğretmenlerinin çeşitli deneyimlere sahip olduklarını göstermektedir. Konuşamayan öğrencilerle iletişim kurmak için özel eğitim öğretmenleri alternatif iletişim yöntemlerini kullandıklarını, bunun yanı sıra sözel iletişim ve alıcı dili becerilerini geliştirmek için çalışmalar yaptıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Yaşadıkları güçlükleri çözmek amacıyla özel eğitim öğretmenleri çeşitli teknik ve stratejiler kullandıklarını ve destek aldıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Katılımcı öğretmenler ADİ sistemlerinin kullanımında özel eğitim öğretmenlerinin ve diğer paydaşların önemli bir rolü olduğunu vurgulamışlardır. Son olarak özel eğitim öğretmenlerinin ADİ sistemlerine yönelik eğitim gereksinimlerinin ve eğitime dair beklentilerinin olduğu görülmektedir. Sonuç ve Öneriler: Özel eğitim öğretmenleri ADİ sistemleri hakkında yeterli bilgiye sahip değildir. Özel eğitim öğretmenlerinin ADİ sistemleri hakkında hizmet içi eğitimler yoluyla bilgilendirilmesi ve özel eğitim öğretmenliği lisans programlarında ADİ sistemlerine yönelik derslerin eklenmesi önerilebilir. Ayrıca ileride araştırmaların farklı katılımcılarla yinelenmesi ve öğretmenlere verilecek eğitimin etkililiğinin inceleneceği deneysel araştırmaların yapılması önerilebilir.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to examine the special education teachers' opinions, and experiences about augmentative and alternative and communication systems. Method: This research was carried out using the qualitative research approach designs, to provide an in-depth look at the experiences of each special education teacher. The participants of the study consist of special education teachers working in schools in Etimesgut district of Ankara province. Within the scope of the research, semi-structured interviews were conducted with the participants. The data were analyzed using the content analysis approach. As a result of the analysis of the data, six themes and 14 sub-themes were reached. Findings: The findings of the study show that special education teachers working with children who has complex communication needs. Special education teachers stated that they use alternative communication methods to communicate with non-speaking students. In addition, they stated that they were working to improve their verbal communication and receptive language skills. When special education teachers communicate with students who cannot speak; explained that they had difficulties arising from themselves, students and external factors. Special education teachers stated that they used various techniques and strategies and received support in order to solve the difficulties they experienced. Participating teachers emphasized that special education teachers and other stakeholders have an important role in the use of augmentative and alternative communication systems. Finally, it is seen that special education teachers have training needs and expectations for augmentative and alternative communication systems. Conclusion and Suggestions: Special education teachers do not have sufficient knowledge about augmentative and alternative communication systems. It may be recommended to inform special education teachers about augmentative and alternative communication systems through in-service training and to add courses on augmentative and alternative communication systems in special education teaching undergraduate programs. In addition, it may be recommended to repeat the research with different participants in the future and to conduct experimental studies to examine the effectiveness of the training to be given to teachers.
