Özet

Hamam yapıları, antik devirden beri yıkanma fonksiyonunun yanı sıra sosyal yaşamdaki yeriyle de toplum hayatında ve mimarlık tarihinde önemli yer tutmuşlardır. Roma ve Bizans hamamları, Antik Yunan hamamlarına benzer şekilde tedavi amaçlı kullanılmışlar ve yıkanma eylemi dışında spor, eğlence merkezi işlevi görerek sosyal doku içinde önemli bir noktada konumlanmışlardır. Roma hamam kültürü Anadolu'da ve Osmanlı döneminde de etkisini sürdürmüş, mekânsal çeşitlenmeler artarak inşa faaliyetleri yoğun bir şekilde devam etmiştir. Yalova İli Termal Kaplıcaları'nın bulunduğu alanda ilk hamamların yaklaşık 1600 sene önce Bizans İmparatoru Constantinus (312-337) tarafından yaptırılmış olduğu, daha sonra çeşitli Bizans İmparatorları tarafından birçok tesis yaptırılmış olduğuna dair veriler bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışma kapsamında da Bizans döneminde inşa edilen ve zamanla harap olan Osmanlı döneminde temel kalıntıları üzerine yeniden inşa edilen Yalova İli Termal İlçesi'nde yer alan Kurşunlu Hamamı'nın tarihsel değişim süreci ana hatlarıyla incelenmiştir. Temsil ettiği dönemlerle ilgili önemli bir belge niteliğinde olan Kurşunlu Hamamı'nın mevcut durumunun saptanması büyük önem taşımaktadır. Bu bağlamda yapının tarihsel süreçteki değişimi, hamam tipolojilerindeki yeri, mekânsal kurgusu, mimari özellikleri irdelenmiş ve mevcut durum verilerinden yararlanılarak koruma sorunları saptanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler ışığında yapı ve çevre verileri ile uyumlu fiziksel müdahale önerileri belirlenmiş, sürdürülebilir korunmasını sağlayacak koruma önerileri sunulmuş ve restorasyon projesi hazırlanmıştır.

Bath structures have had an important place in social life and architectural history since ancient times, with their role in social life as well as their washing function. Roman and Byzantine baths were used for therapeutic purposes, similar to the Ancient Greek baths, and were located at an important point in the social fabric by serving as a sports and entertainment center apart from the act of bathing. The Roman bath culture continued its influence in Anatolia and the Ottoman period, as spatial diversification increased and construction activities continued intensively. There are data that the first baths were built by the Byzantine Emperor Constantine (312-337) about 1600 years ago in the area where Yalova Termal Spas are located, and that many facilities were built by various Byzantine Emperors later on. Within the scope of this study, the historical change process of Kurşunlu Bath, located in the Termal District of Yalova Province, which was built in the Byzantine period and destroyed over time, and rebuilt on the foundation ruins during the Ottoman period, was examined in outline. It is of great importance to determine the current situation of Kurşunlu Hamam, which is an important document about the periods it represents. In this context, the change of the building in the historical process, its place in the typologies of the baths, its spatial setup, architectural features were examined and conservation problems were determined by using the current situation data. In the light of the data obtained, physical intervention proposals compatible with the building and environmental data were determined, conservation proposals that would ensure sustainable protection were presented and a restoration project was prepared.
