Özet
The sudden emergence of settled communities consisting of agriculture and animal husbandry on the Western Anatolian coasts, Aegean Islands and Aegean coasts of Greece without predecessors in the beginning of the 7th millennium BC, brought to the fore the idea that the Neolithic way of life was first started by way of mass migration or colonization from Northern Mesopotamia, Central Anatolia and Levant regions where wild plants and animals were first domesticated and settled life style was first occurred. Archaeological and ancient DNA data from the Aegean in the last ten years have revealed that acculturation and cultural exchange models should be evaluated instead of mass migration or colonization, and research has focused on the role of local hunter-gatherers in the Neolithization process of the Aegean and the origins of the sedentary life. However, it seems that there is still no consensus on the chronology, terminology and development of the process. The aim of this study is to help solve the problems arising from the chronological and terminological complexity in the region, to provide a effective evaluation of the archaeological material, and to discuss the issue of whether the Neolithic life style in the Aegean developed with its own dynamics or whether it was formed as a result of influences from outside the region in the light of the available data.
