Özet
Bu araştırmada belirlenen amaç; fen bilimleri dersinde dördüncü sınıfta basit elektrik devreleri ünitesinde tahmin-gözlem-açıklama [TGA] temeli etkinlikler uygulayarak öğrencilerin dersteki akademik başarılarına ve motivasyonlarına etkisini araştırmaktır. Bu kapsamda nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden birisi olan ön test – son test kontrol gruplu zayıf deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada pilot uygulama ve çalışma grubunu Ankara ili Keçiören ilçesinde 2022-2023 eğitim-öğretim yılında, iki farklı devlet ilkokulunda, dördüncü sınıfta öğrenim gören deney ve kontrol grubu öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırma kapsamında öğrencilerin derse karşı motivasyonlarını değerlendirmek için fen öğrenmeye yönelik motivasyon ölçeği kullanmıştır. Ölçeğin Cronbach Alpha güvenilirlik katsayısı değeri 0,80 olarak bulunmuştur. Öğrencilerin akademik başarılarını ölçmek için basit elektrik devreleri başarı testi uygulanmıştır. Bu testin KR-20 güvenilirlik katsayısı değeri 0,85 olarak bulunmuştur. Başarı testi ve motivasyon ölçeği çalışmanın öncesinde ön test ve uygulamalar sonrasında son test olarak kontrol grubu ve deney grubu olan çalışma gruplarına uygulanmıştır. Deney grubu olan sınıflarda TGA temelli etkinlikleri yapılırken kontrol grubu olarak belirlenen sınıflarda Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı [MEB] 2018 Fen bilimleri dersi öğretim programı dikkate alınmış ve dördüncü sınıf ders kitabında bulunan etkinlikler yapılmıştır. Yapılan uygulamalar neticesinde elde edilen veriler Jamovi 2.3.26 programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular dikkate alınarak, dördüncü sınıfta öğrenim görmekte olan öğrencilerin basit elektrik devreleri ünitesinin işlenişi sırasında uygulanan TGA temelli etkinliklerin ön test-son test puanları arasında son test puanları lehine anlamlı farklılık çıkmıştır. Sonuç olarak deney grubunda uygulanan TGA temelli etkinliklerin akademi başarı ve motivasyonu anlamlı düzeyde artırdığı görülmüştür.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of Predict-Observe-Explain [POE] based activities on the academic achievement and motivation of the students in the course in the fourth grade simple electrical circuits unit in the science course. In this context, a weak experimental design with pretest-posttest control group, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used. The pilot application and study group of the research consists of the experimental and control group students studying in two different public primary schools in the Kecioren district of Ankara in the 2022-2023 academic year. Within the scope of this research, a motivation scale for learning science was used to evaluate students' motivation towards the lesson. The reliability coefficient of the scale was found to be 0,80 with Cronbach Alpha value. Simple electrical circuits achievement test was applied to measure the academic achievement of the students. The KR-20 reliability coefficient value of this test was found to be 0,85. The achievement test and the motivation scale were applied to the study groups, which were the control group and the experimental group, as a pre-test before the study and as a post-test after the applications. While POE based activities were carried out in the classrooms with the experimental group, the Ministry of National Education [MoNE] 2018 Science Course Curriculum was taken into account in the classrooms designated as the control group, and the activities in the fourth grade textbook were carried out. The data obtained as a result of the applications were analyzed with the Jamovi 2.3.26 program. Considering the findings, there was a significant difference between the pretest-posttest scores of the POE based activities applied during the teaching of the simple electrical circuits unit of the fourth grade students in favor of the posttest scores. As a result, it was seen that the POE based activities applied in the experimental group significantly increased academic achievement and motivation.
