Nowadays, digitalization started to take place in all aspects of life. However, there is still lack of implementation of digitalization in the construction industry, which motivated digiBau project to be initiated. Aim of digiBau project is developing a system on construction helmets to collect 360 degree images and 3D point cloud data which will be used for recording the actual state, inspecting the construction site, automatic measurements, generating 3D built-in documentation and creating an indoor navigation system. This thesis first analyzes 360 degree image capturing, 3D technologies and related algorithms. Then, requirements for hardware, software and mechanical design aspects are discussed. Helmet solution is designed with using an embedded board, embedded cameras, fisheye lenses and a 3D stereo vision camera, and all applications are developed by using PCL (Point Cloud Library), OpenCV (Open Source Computer Vision) and ZED mini API. Concept, implementation and validation of power supply design, mechanical design and software development for positional tracking, indoor navigation, depth sensing, distance measurement, and all point cloud processing functionalities are explained in detail in this thesis work. As a result of this work, helmet is manufactured and all developed and implemented concepts are tested, which are proven to be working as expected.
