Özet

Bu tez en temelde, Nietzsche'nin trajik olanı anlatmak için Dionysosçu olarak adlandırdığı dürtü ile Foucault'nun Batı düşüncesinde, sanatında, deneyiminde ortaya çıktığını gördüğü trajik deliliğin ilişkisini gözler önüne serip Modern Dönem'de eserlere etki edecek olan trajik delilik deneyiminin imkânını açığa çıkarmayı hedeflemektedir. Akıl karşısında yitirilen trajik olanın izini sürmeyi, Nietzsche'nin bıraktığı yerden sürdüren Foucault'nun düşüncesinde trajik olanın tekrar açığa çıktığı trajik delilik deneyimi; Bosch, Bruegel, Dürer ve Goya gibi ressamlardan Shakespeare, Cervantes ve Sade gibi yazarlara, Brant ve Erasmus'tan Descartes'a dönemlerinin sosyo-politik atmosferiyle iç içe tüm tarihselliğiyle ele alınacaktır. Foucault'ya göre Modern Dönem'e özgü yeni bir trajik delilik deneyiminin Dostoyevski, Van Gogh ve özellikle de Nietzsche'nin hayatı ve eserlerinde nasıl ortaya çıktığı anlatılarak bir örnek olarak trajik bir sanatçı ilan ettiğimiz Lars von Trier'in Melancholia ve Antichrist filmleri incelenip bu yeni imkânın açığa çıkışı tartışılacaktır.

This thesis aims to reveal the connection between the impulse that Nietzsche calls Dionysian to describe the tragic and the tragic madness that Foucault realizes to have emerged in Western thought, art and experience, and to reveal the possibility of the experience of tragic madness that will affect the works in the Modern Period. The experience of tragic madness, in which the tragic reappears in the thought of Foucault, who carries on where Nietzsche left off in tracing the tragic lost in the face of reason, from painters such as Bosch, Bruegel, Dürer and Goya to writers such as Shakespeare, Cervantes and Sade, from Brant and Erasmus to Descartes, will be discussed in all its historicity intertwined with the socio-political atmosphere of their periods. By explaining how, according to Foucault, a new experience of tragic madness particular to the Modern Period emerged in Dostoyevsky, Van Gogh and especially Nietzsche's life and works, the emergence of this new possibility will be discussed by examining the films Melancholia and Antichrist by Lars von Trier, whom we declare a tragic artist as an example.
