Özet
Frege ile birlikte hız kazanan modern mantık çalışmaları, Aristoteles'in mantığının geliştirilen bu modern mantık çerçevesi içerisinde temsil edilip edilememesi problemini gündeme taşımıştır. Bu problemin çözümü üzerine doğal dedüksiyon sistemleri ve aksiyomatik sistemler geliştirilmiştir. Bu sistemler mantığı matematiksel çerçeve içerisinde ele almaları bakımından aynı özelliklere sahip iken, mantığının bu çerçeve içerisinde sahip olduğu nitelikleri açısından ayrışırlar. Bu ayrışma, mantığının doğasına dair iki farklı yaklaşımı beraberinde getirir: formel epistemoloji olarak mantık ve formel ontoloji olarak mantık. Bu çalışma, söz konusu ayrışmada hangi pozisyonun Aristoteles'in mantığına sadık bir okumayı getirebileceğine dair dakik bir incelemeyi sunan John Corcoran'ın doğal dedüksiyon teorisini merkeze alıyor. Corcoran, Aristoteles'in mantığının epistemik bir öze sahip olduğunu,“Birinci Analitikler”adlı eserde sağlam argümanlardan ziyade tutarlı argümanların ele alınması, altta yatan başka bir mantığı varsaymaması ve varsayımsal akıl yürütmeyi içermesi üzerinden gösteriyor.

Modern logic studies, which gained momentum with Frege, brought the problem of whether Aristotle's logic could be represented within the framework of this modern logic. Natural deduction systems and axiomatic systems were developed to solve this problem. While these systems have the same characteristics in terms of their treatment of logic within the mathematical framework, they differ in terms of the qualities of logic within this framework. This divergence leads to two different approaches to the nature of logic: logic as formal epistemology and logic as formal ontology. This study centers on John Corcoran's theory of natural deduction, which offers a rigorous examination of which position in this divergence can lead to a faithful reading of Aristotle's logic. Corcoran shows that Aristotle's logic has an epistemic core through the treatment of consistent arguments rather than sound arguments in“Prior Analytics”, its failure to assume any other underlying logic, and its use of hypothetical reasoning.
