Özet
Yabancı dil öğretiminde okuma becerisinin geliştirilmesi amacı ile kullanılan metinler eğitim ve öğretimin bir parçasıdır. Metinler vasıtası ile dilin söz varlığını, kurallarını ve düşünce yapısını görürüz. Fakat dil öğrenimine aracılık eden metinlerin özgün hâli ile mi, uyarlanmış hâli ile mi öğrenciye sunulması konusu uzmanların görüş birliğine varamadığı konulardandır. Bazı uzmanlar, yabancı/ikinci dil öğrenenlere özgün metinlerin verilmesinin öğrenciyi dilin doğal ortamına katacağını ifade ederken bazı uzmanlar ise anlaşılmayan metinlerin öğrencide hedef dile karşı dil öğrenme motivasyonunu azaltacağını ileri sürmüşlerdir. Bundan dolayı yabancı/ikinci dil öğreniminde uyarlanmış metinlerin kullanılmasının daha uygun olacağı önerisinde bulunmuşlardır. Bu görüşlerden hareketle özgün metinlerin Avrupa Dil Portfolyosu kazanımlarına göre seviyelendirilip düzeylere göre uyarlanması gerekliliğinin hissedilmesi, çalışmanın önemini ortaya koymaktır. Mevcut çalışmanın amacı yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretiminde uyarlanmış metin kullanımının öğrencilerin okuduğunu anlama başarısına etkisini ölçmektir. Muallim Naci'nin“Ömer'in Çocukluğu”isimli anı türündeki eser, metin değiştirim ilkelerinden koruma, silme, genişletme, sözcüksel değiştirme ve sözdizimsel değiştirme teknikleri kullanılarak B1 seviyesine uyarlanmıştır. Araştırmada nicel araştırma desenlerinden yarı deneysel model kullanılmıştır. Diller İçin Avrupa Ortak Başvuru Metni incelenmiş olup İstanbul Üniversitesi Yeni İstanbul Yabancılar İçin Türkçe B1 seviyesi Ders Kitabı'ndaki B1 seviyesi dil bilgisi yapıları ve söz varlıkları esas alınmıştır. Yarı deneysel modelin kullanıldığı çalışmada İstanbul'da bir vakıf üniversitesinde öğrenim gören B1 seviyesindeki 10 öğrenciye metnin özgün hâli, yine aynı seviyedeki diğer 14 öğrenciye de metnin uyarlanmış hâli okutulmuş ardından öğrencilerden metnin sonundaki okuduğunu anlamaya yönelik sorulara yanıt verilmesi istenmiştir. Öğrencilerin test sonucunda aldığı puanlar SPSS ile analiz edilmiştir. Alınan sonuçlar, deney grubunun kontrol grubuna kıyasla daha başarılı olduğunu göstermiştir. Texts used to develop reading skills in foreign language teaching are a part of education and training. We see the vocabulary, rules and thought structure of the language through texts. However, the issue of whether the texts that mediate language learning should be presented to students in their original or adapted form is one of the issues on which experts cannot reach a consensus. While some experts state that giving original texts to foreign/second language learners will involve the student in the natural environment of the language, some experts argue that incomprehensible texts will reduce the student's motivation to learn a language against the target language. Therefore, they suggested that it would be more appropriate to use adapted texts in foreign/second language learning. Based on these views, the need to level the original texts according to the achievements of the European Language Portfolio and adapt them according to the levels is to reveal the importance of the study. The aim of the current study is to measure the effect of using adapted text in teaching Turkish as a foreign language on students' reading comprehension success. Muallim Naci's work in the memoir genre called 'Ömer's Childhood' has been adapted to the B1 level by using the text modification principles of preservation, deletion, expansion, lexical replacement and syntactic modification techniques. A quasi-experimental model, one of the quantitative research designs, was used in the research. The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages was examined and the B1 level grammar structures and vocabulary in the Istanbul University New Istanbul Turkish for Foreigners B1 Level Coursebook were taken as the basis. In the study, in which a quasi-experimental model was used, 10 students at B1 level studying at a foundation university in Istanbul were taught the original version of the text, and 14 other students at the same level were read the adapted version of the text, and then the students were asked to answer the questions at the end of the text regarding reading comprehension. The scores obtained by the students as a result of the test were analyzed with SPSS. The results showed that the experimental group was more successful than the control group.
