Özet
Bu çalışmada ortaokul öğrencilerinin çevre okuryazarlık düzeylerinin ve çevreye yönelik motivasyon düzeylerinin çeşitli değişkenler açısından belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma, 2023-2024 eğitim-öğretim döneminde İstanbul'da bir devlet okulunda öğrenim gören 5, 6, 7 ve 8. sınıf düzeyinde öğrenim gören 509 öğrencinin katılımı ile gerçekleşmiştir. Tarama modeli ile yapılan araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak kişisel bilgi formu, çevre okuryazarlık ölçeği ve çevre motivasyon ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Çalışmadan elde edilen veriler SPSS 27.0 programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmada elde edilen veriler; cinsiyet, sınıf düzeyi, evde bitki bakımı ile ilgilenme, evde evcil bir hayvan bakımı ile ilgilenme, anne ve baba eğitim durumu değişkenleri için bağımsız örneklemler t testi (Independent samples t-test) ve tek yönlü ANOVA ile analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarına göre öğrencilerin çevre okuryazarlık düzeylerinin cinsiyete göre anlamlı farklılık gösterdiği, ancak sınıf seviyesi, evde bitki bakım ile ilgilenme durumu, evde evcil hayvan bakımı ile ilgilenme durumu, anne ve baba eğitim durumuna göre anlamlı bir farklılık görülmemiştir. Öğrencilerin çevre motivasyon düzeylerine bakıldığında cinsiyete ve evde bitki bakımı ile ilgilenme durumlarına göre anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmaktadır. Sınıf düzeylerinde ise dış motivasyon alt boyutunda 6 ve 7. sınıfların motivasyon düzeylerinin 8. sınıflardan anlamlı bir şekilde yüksek olduğu görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin motivasyon düzeylerinde evde evcil bir hayvan bakımı ile ilgilenme, anne ve baba eğitim durumlarına göre anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmamıştır.

In this study, it was aimed to determine the environmental literacy levels and environmental motivation levels of middle school students in terms of various variables. The study was conducted with the participation of 509 students studying at the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade level in a public school in Istanbul in the 2023-2024 academic year. Personal information form, environmental literacy scale and environmental motivation scale were used as data collection tools. The data obtained from the study were analyzed with SPSS 27.0 program. The data obtained in the study were analyzed with independent samples t-test and one-way ANOVA for the variables of gender, grade level, interest in plant care at home, interest in pet care at home, mother and father education level. According to the results of the analysis, students' environmental literacy levels showed a significant difference according to gender, but there was no significant difference according to grade level, being interested in plant care at home, being interested in pet care at home, mother and father education status. When we look at the environmental motivation levels of the students, there is a significant difference according to gender and the status of being interested in plant care at home. In terms of grade levels, it was observed that the motivation levels of 6th and 7th graders were significantly higher than 8th graders in the external motivation sub-dimension. No significant difference was found in terms of caring for a pet at home, mother and father's education level.
