Özet

Bu araştırmanın amacı, devlet okullarındaki öğretmenlerin ve yöneticilerin depreme ilişkin yaşantılarının ve deprem stresi ile baş etme stratejilerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırma nitel bir çalışma olup araştırma kapsamında nitel araştırma desenlerinden olgu bilim deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2023-2024 eğitim öğretim yılı içerisinde Muş ili Merkez ilçesindeki devlet okullarında görev yapan 10 okul yöneticisi ve 20 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden ölçüt örnekleme ve fırsat örnekleme yöntemi ile oluşturulmuştur. Çalışma grubunda üçgenleme yapılmış ve araştırmaya katılacak öğretmenlerin ve okul yöneticilerinin son yaşanan depremi hissetmiş olmaları ve hali hazırda deprem riski taşıyan bir bölgede yaşamlarını sürdürüyor olmaları ölçüt olarak kabul edilmiştir. Araştırma kapsamında veri toplama aracı olarak yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmış ve verilerin toplanması sürecinde yüz yüze görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler, içerik analizi tekniği ile analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre; araştırmaya katılan öğretmen ve okul yöneticilerinin okulları deprem için güvenli alanlar olarak görmedikleri, bu nedenle okul saatleri içerisinde deprem olması durumunda hem kendilerinin, hem de öğrencilerinin güvenlikleri için endişe ettikleri, bu durumun da deprem stresi yaşamalarına neden olduğu görülmektedir. Bu stresle başa çıkarken fiziki tedbir alma, inanca sarılma, olayı unutmaya çalışma, kendini rahatlatmaya yönelik aktiviteler yapma gibi stratejiler kullandıkları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre okul yöneticilerinin öğretmenlere göre daha az deprem stresi yaşadığı görülmüştür. Çalışmanın sonuçları doğrultusunda deprem farkındalığını arttırmak için eğitimin bütün kademelerinde afet eğitimi dersinin okutulması ve topluma deprem bilincinin kazandırılması önerilebilir.

The purpose of this research is to examine the earthquake-related experiences of teachers and administrators in public schools and their strategies for coping with earthquake stress. The research is a qualitative study and within the scope of the research, the phenomenological design, which is one of the qualitative research designs, was used. The study group of the research consists of 10 school administrators and 20 teachers working in public schools in the Central district of Muş province in the 2023-2024 academic year. The study group of the research was formed by criterion sampling and convenience sampling methods, which are among the purposeful sampling methods. Triangulation was made in the study group, and it was accepted as a criterion that the teachers and school administrators who would participate in the research had felt the last earthquake and that they were currently living in an area at risk of earthquake. Within the scope of the research, a structured interview form was used as a data collection tool and face-to-face interviews were held during the data collection process. The data was analyzed with the content analysis technique. According to the findings; it was seen that the teachers and school administrators who participated in the research did not see schools as safe areas for earthquakes, therefore they worried about the safety of both themselves and their students in case of an earthquake during school hours, and this caused them to experience earthquake stress. According to the results of the research, it was seen that school administrators experienced less earthquake stress than teachers. In line with the results of the study, it can be suggested that disaster education courses be taught at all levels of education and that earthquake awareness be brought to the society in order to increase earthquake awareness.
