Özet
Bu çalışmada Bertrand Russell'in felsefesinde matematiksel düşünmenin felsefi önemi sorgulanmaktadır. Matematiksel düşünme ve felsefi düşünme sadece filozoflar için değil, pratik hayatta da karşılık bulduğundan her zaman önemini korumaktadır. Bu eksende araştırmamızda“matematiksel düşünme mi yoksa felsefi düşünme mi önemlidir?”sorusundan yola çıkarak Bertrand Russell'in matematiksel düşüncesinin felsefi önemi üzerine çalışılmıştır. Tezin birinci bölümünde matematik, felsefe ve mantık kavramları kısaca ele alınmış, bu kavramların arasındaki bağlantı incelenmiştir. İkinci bölümde Pisagorculuk'tan (Pythagoreanism) Wittgenstein'a kadar belli başlı filozofların matematiksel düşünme ve felsefi düşünme noktasında ileri sürdüğü görüşlere yer verilmiştir. Tezin son bölümünde ise, Bertrand Russell'in bu ikisine dair ileri sürdüğü görüşler sorgulanmaktadır. Bertrand Russell mantıksal atomculuk ve matematiksel düşünme arasındaki ilişki, mantık ve analizin temel rolü çerçevesinde şekillenmektedir. Dış dünyayı matematiksel mantık yapısına uygun olarak gösterir. Mantıksal atomculuk felsefesi, felsefi düşüncenin temelinde mantık olduğunu ve bu mantığın matematiksel mantığa dayandığını gösterir. Bu görüşler ekseninde matematiksel düşünmenin felsefi önemi, matematiksel mantık öğretisiyle açıklanmıştır.

In this study, the philosophical importance of mathematical thinking in Bertrand Russell's philosophy is questioned. Mathematical thinking and philosophical thinking maintain their importance even today, as they find relevance not only for philosophers but also in practical life. In this axis, our research asks“Is mathematical thinking or philosophical thinking important?”Based on the question, the philosophical importance of Bertrand Russell's mathematical thought was studied. In the first part of the thesis, the concepts of mathematics, philosophy and logic are briefly discussed and the connection between these concepts is examined. In the second part, the views put forward by major philosophers, from Pythagoreanism to Wittgenstein, regarding mathematical thinking and philosophical thinking are included. In the last part of the thesis, Bertrand Russell's views on these two are questioned. Bertrand Russell's relationship between logical atomism and mathematical thinking is shaped by the fundamental role of logic and analysis. It shows the outside world in accordance with the mathematical logic structure. The philosophy of logical atomism shows that the basis of philosophical thought is logic and that this logic is based on mathematical logic. On the basis of these views, the philosophical importance of mathematical thinking is explained with the doctrine of mathematical logic.
