Özet
Kıbrıs her zaman dünya tarihinin en önemli adalarından birisi olmuştur. Birçok devletin egemenliğini tanımış ve uzun süre kendi akıbetini belirleyememiştir. Kıbrıs'ta hüküm süren devletlerden birisi de Osmanlı Devleti'dir. 1570 tarihinde başlayan fetih hareketlerinin sonucunda Kıbrıs, Osmanlı'nın bir parçası olmuştur. Ada için yeni bir dönem başlamıştır. Osmanlı'nın adada inşa ettiği bu düzen, İngilizlerin Kıbrıs'ı ele geçirmesine kadar devam etmiştir. Bu tezin konusu 16. Yüzyılda Girne Kalesi'dir. Tezin içerisinde giriş ve üç bölüm vardır. Giriş bölümünde; Kıbrıs'ın, ilkçağlardan başlayarak, Osmanlı dönemine kadar ki süreci ele alınmıştır. Birinci bölümün içerisinde Kıbrıs'ın fethi ve adada kurulan idari, eğitim ve askeri gibi sistemleri incelenmiştir. Ayrıca Kıbrıs'ta uygulanan iskân politikasını da değinilmiştir. Giriş ve birinci bölümde daha çok genel bir Kıbrıs tarihi anlatılmıştır. İkinci bölümden itibaren Girne üzerine yoğunlaşılmıştır. Tahrir defterinden çıkarılan bulgular ışığında ikinci bölüm için nüfus tespiti yapılmıştır. Üçüncü bölüm içinde vergiler üzerinden iktisadi hayatı ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır.

Cyprus has always been one of the most important islands in world history. It recognized the sovereignty of many states and for a long time was unable to determine its own fate. One of the states that ruled on the Cyprus was the Ottoman Empire. As a result of the conquest movements that started in 1570, Cyprus became part of the Ottoman Empire. A new era has begun for the island. This order built by the Ottomans on the island continued until the British took over Cyprus. The subject of this thesis is Kyrenia Castle in the 16th century. The thesis has an introduction and three chapters. In the introductory chapter, the process of Cyprus, starting from the ancient times until the Ottoman period, is discussed. The first chapter examines the conquest of Cyprus and the administrative, educational and military systems established on the island. In addition, the settlement policy applied in Cyprus is also mentioned. İn the introduction and the first chapter, a general history of Cyprus is presented. From the second chapter onwards, the focus is on Kyrenia. In the light of the findings from the tahrir book, the population was determined for the second section. In the third chapter, an attempt was made to reveal the economic life through taxes.
