Özet

Sahip olunan turistik çekicilikler turizmin gelişmesi için çok önemli bir faktör olmasına rağmen tek başına yeterli değildir. Turistik çekiciliğin bulunduğu çevrede yaşayanların turizmle ilgili duygularına, düşüncelerine ve davranışlarına göre turizm de olumlu ya da olumsuz etkilenebilmektedir. Yerel halkın turizm sektörüne, gerçekleştirilen turizm faaliyetlerine, turistlere karşı tutum ve davranışları olumlu ise turizmin gelişmesi kolaylaşacak, tam tersi durum söz konusu olursa turizmin gelişmesi engellenip, turistik değer taşıyan kaynakların tahrip edilmesi, hatta yok olmasına bile neden olabilecektir. Dolayısıyla turizm faaliyetlerinin gerçekleştiği bölgede yaşayan yerel halkın bu faaliyetlere yönelik görüşlerine başvurulması, elde edilecek olan turizm gelirlerinin artmasına, bölgede turistik değer taşıyan kaynakların daha verimli kullanılmasına ve turistik faaliyetlerin geliştirilmesine katkı sağlayacaktır. Termal turizm bir alternatif turizm türü olarak, doğal bir sıcaklığa sahip ve çeşitli yararlı mineraller içeren şifalı suların, yer üstüne çıktığı bölgelerde farklı şekillerde kullanılmasından (havuz, içme suyu vb.) kaynaklanan sağlık turizmi alt dalıdır. Bu çalışmada, Erzurum ilinde termal turizm potansiyeli bulunan ve bölgede bu anlamda en fazla tanınmışlığa sahip ilçelerde yerel halkın bu turizm türüne karşı bakış açısını belirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Literatür taramasından yerel halkın turizm faaliyetlerine bakış açısı ve algılarına yönelik çok sayıda çalışma ve veri olduğu tespit edilmiş olmasına rağmen, çalışmaların çok büyük çoğunluğunun genel turizmle alakalı olduğu; alt turizm dallarıyla ilgili kısıtlı kaynak bulunduğu görülmüştür. Dolayısıyla elde edilen çalışma sonuçlarının, daha çok kış turizmi ile bilinen Erzurum'da turizm faaliyetlerini 12 aya yaymak adına önem arz eden termal turizm faaliyetlerinin gelişimine, sektör temsilcilerine ve ilgili literatüre katkı sağlaması beklenmektedir. Yerel halkın, bir alternatif turizm türü olan termal turizmin ekonomik, sosyo-kültürel ve çevresel etkilerine bakış açısını ve termal turizmin gelişimine verdiği desteği belirlemek için yapılan bu araştırma, 2023 yılında Erzurum merkez ve termal tesislerin bulunduğu bazı ilçelerinde yaşayan halka uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada kullanılan veriler anket tekniğiyle elde edilerek analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen verilere merkezi eğilim ölçüleri, bağımsız örneklem t-testi, tek yönlü ANOVA testi ve korelasyon analizi yapılmıştır. Analizler sonucunda yerel halkın genel olarak termal turizmin olumlu ekonomik, sosyo-kültürel ve çevresel etkilerine destek verdiği, olumsuz ekonomik, sosyo-kültürel ve çevresel etkilerini ise onaylamadıkları görülmüştür. Bu anlamda yerel halkın termal turizmin etkileri konusunda belli bir düzeyde bilinç sahibi olduğu söylenebilir. Yerel halkın, termal turizmin desteklenmesi gerektiğini düşündüğü, bu amaçla yeni yatırımlar yapılması gerektiği hususunda son derece olumlu bir bakış açısına sahip olduğu, gayet yüksek bir istek ve beklenti içerisinde olduğu görülmüştür.

Although tourist attractions are a very important factor for the development of tourism, they are not sufficient on their own. Tourism can also be affected positively or negatively depending on the tourism-related feelings, thoughts and behaviors of those living in the environment where the tourist attraction is located. If the attitudes and behaviors of local people towards the tourism sector, tourists and tourism activities are positive, tourism development will be facilitated; on the contrary situation, tourism development will be prevented and resources of touristic value may be damaged or even destroyed. Therefore, obtaining the opinions of local people living in the region where tourism activities take place will contribute to increasing tourism revenues, more efficient use of tourism resources in the region and the development of touristic activities. As a type of alternative tourism, thermal tourism is a sub-branch of health tourism resulting from the use of healing waters, which have a natural temperature and contain various beneficial minerals in the regions where they rise above ground. This study aims to determine the perspective of the local people towards this type of tourism in the districts of Erzurum that have thermal tourism potential and are the most well-known in this sense in the region. Although it has been determined from the literature review that there are many studies and data on the perspectives and perceptions of local people on tourism activities, it has been observed that the vast majority of the studies are related to general tourism; there are limited resources on sub-tourism branches. Therefore, it is expected that the results of the study will contribute to the development of thermal tourism activities, tourism industry representatives and relevant literature, which are important for extending tourism activities to 12 months in Erzurum, which is mostly known for winter tourism. This research, which was conducted to determine the local people's perspective on the economic, socio-cultural and environmental impacts of thermal tourism as an alternative tourism type and their support for the development of thermal tourism, was applied to the people living in Erzurum city center and some districts where thermal facilities are located in 2023. The data used in the research was obtained and analyzed using the survey method. Measures of central tendency, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA test and correlation analysis were performed on the data obtained. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that the local people generally support the positive economic, socio-cultural and environmental impacts of thermal tourism, while they disapprove its negative economic, socio-cultural and environmental impacts. Accordingly, it can be said that local people have a certain level of awareness about the effects of thermal tourism. It has been observed that the local people think that thermal tourism should be supported and have a very positive perspective, desire and expectation that new investments should be made for this purpose.
