Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı ortaokul öğrencilerinin kesirlerde çarpma işlemi yapma ve problem kurma performansını incelemektir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma deseninin tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırma grubu Kocaeli ili İzmit ilçesinde bulunan üç farklı devlet okulunda öğrenim gören 156 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Veriler 2022-2023 eğitim öğretim yılında altıncı ve yedinci sınıf düzeylerindeki öğrencilerden toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemi seçkisiz olmayan uygun örnekleme yöntemiyle belirlenmiştir. Araştırma verileri Kesirlerde Çarpma İşlemi Problem Kurma Testi kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Araştırmacının hazırladığı Kesirlerde Çarpma İşlemi Problem Kurma Test'inde beş adet çarpma işlemi yapma sorusu beş adet verilen çarpma işlemine uygun problem kurma sorusu olmak üzere toplam on adet soru yer almaktadır. Veri analizi, elde edilen bulgulara ait frekans ve yüzde hesaplamaları ve SPSS programında Non-parametrik testlerle yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonucuna göre öğrencilerin kesirlerde çarpma işlemi performanslarının orta düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Öğrencilerin iki kesrin çarpımı işleminde gösterdikleri performansın diğer işlemlerdeki performanslarından daha yüksek olduğu görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin kesirlerde çarpma işlemi problem kurma performanslarının düşük olduğu tespit edilmiştir. En yüksek performansın bir basit kesir ile bir doğal sayının çarpımı işleminde olduğu görülmüştür. Çarpma işlemi yapma ve problem kurma becerileri yedinci sınıf seviyesindeki öğrencilerin altıncı sınıf seviyesindeki öğrencilerden yüksek aynı zamanda kız öğrencilerin erkek öğrencilerden daha başarılı olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Problem kurma yanıtları toplamda dört farklı doğru yanıt ve sekiz farklı yanlış yanıt olmak üzere toplamda on iki kategoride değerlendirilmiştir. Öğrencilerin doğru yanıt kategorisinde en fazla çarpanların yerini değiştirip doğru kabul edilenler kategorine uygun, yanlış yanıtlara bakıldığında ise çoğunun mantık hatası yaptığı, işlemin ismini ve işlemleri soruda kullandıkları veya problemin sonunu getiremedikleri yanlış getirdikleri görülmektedir.

The aim of this research is to examine the performance of middle school students in multiplication and problem posing of fractions. The screening model of the qualitative research design was used in the research. The research group consists of 156 students studying in three different public schools in Izmit district of Kocaeli province. The data were collected from students in the sixth and seventh grades in the 2022-2023 academic year. The sample of the research was determined by the non-random convenience sampling method. The research data were obtained using the Fraction Multiplication Problem Posing Test. The Fraction Multiplication Problem Posing Test prepared by the researcher includes a total of ten questions, including five multiplication questions and five problem posing questions appropriate to the given multiplication. Data analysis was carried out using frequency and percentage calculations of the obtained findings and non-parametric tests in the SPSS program. According to the results of the research, it was determined that the students' performance in multiplication of fractions was at a moderate level. It was observed that the performance of the students in the multiplication of two fractions was higher than their performance in other operations. It was determined that the students' performance in multiplication of fractions was low. It was observed that the highest performance was in the multiplication of a simple fraction and a natural number. It was determined that the multiplication and problem posing skills of the seventh grade students were higher than the sixth grade students and that the female students were more successful than the male students. The problem posing answers were evaluated in a total of twelve categories, with a total of four different correct answers and eight different incorrect answers. In the correct answer category, the students mostly changed the place of the factors and were in line with the category of those accepted as correct, and when the incorrect answers were examined, it was seen that most of them made logical errors, used the name of the operation and operations in the question or could not finish the problem and brought it wrong.
