Özet
Biyofilik tasarım iç mekanlarda doğa-insan bağlantısını kurmaya yönelik bir tasarımdır. Günümüzde artan kent hayatı doğayla bağımızı her zamankinden fazla sınırlamaktadır. Biyofilik tasarım bu soruna çözüm olarak iç mekanlarda doğa-insan bağlantısını kurmamıza olanak tanımaktadır. Covid-19 pandemisi sonrasında biyofilik tasarıma ilgi ve artış hem literatürde hem de hemen hemen her sektörde gözlemlenmiştir. Özellikle insanlar otel tercihlerinde biyofilik unsurlara sahip otelleri tercih etmeye başlamışlardır. Biyofilik tasarımın farklı araştırmalarda insanın iyi oluş haline ve fiziksel, psikolojik sağlığına iyi geldiği kanıtlanmıştır. Bu faydalar doğrultusunda, insanların dinlenme amaçlı konaklamalarında biyofilik otellerin rolü büyük olacaktır. Biyofilik tasarım, iç mekanlarda doğanın doğrudan ve dolaylı kullanımı, doğanın taklidi yoluyla uygulanabilmektedir. Browning ve çalışma arkadaşları 14 biyofilik tasarım modeli belirleyelerek biyofilik tasarımın uygulanmasını kolaylaştırmış ve tasarımcılara araç sağlamıştır. Bu tez çalışması biyofilik otel tasarımına ve eğitim sürecine odaklanmaktadır. Biyofilik tasarıma artan ilgi ve literatürde gözlemlenen eksik bu alandaki eğitim sürecinin önemini bize göstermektedir. İç mimarlık eğitiminde stüdyo sürecinin önemi büyüktür. Bu çalışmada Yaşar Üniversitesi İç Mimarlık ve Çevre Tasarımı Bölümü 3.sınıf öğrencilerinin biyofilik otel projeleri stüdyo süreci takip edilmiştir. Öğrencilere dönem başında ve sonunda olmak üzere anketler yapılmıştır. İlk anket daha genel sonuçlar içerirken ikinci anket sonuçlarında öğrenciler benzer sorulara kendi projelerini de dikkate alarak cevaplar vermiştir. Bu anketlerde biyofilik tasarıma dair öğrencilerin bakış açıları değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmada elde edilen veriler nitel ve nicel yaklaşımlarla elde edilmiştir. Literatür taraması sistematik bir yöntemle Prisma diyagramları aracıyla yapılmış ve literatürdeki eksikleri görmemizi sağlamıştır. Literatür Biyofilik otel tasarımı, ve biyofilik tasarım eğitimi başlıklarına ayrılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Ardından biyofilik otel tasarımı üzerine literatür ve çağdaş seçili örnekler detaylı incelenmiştir. İlgili uygulamaların yazına ve eğitime yeterince aktarılamadığı saptanmıştır. Devamında takip edilen stüdyo süreci ve anket sonuçları ayrı bir kısımda ele alınmıştır. Ayrıca çağdaş biyofilik otel örnekleri üzerinden bir inceleme de yapılmıştır. Sonuç olarak yapılan sistematik literatür taramasında Covid-19 sonrasında biyofilik tasarım alanında literatürde artış yaşandığı gözlemlenmiştir. Biyofilik otel tasarım literatürü sayıca çok azdır, fakat son yıllarda artışa geçtiği görülmektedir. Tespit edilmiş mevcut literatün gelişmesi için daha fazla çalışmaya ihtiyaç vardır. Literatürdeki eksiklere karşın güncel biofilik otel tasarımları sayısında artış yaşanmaktadır. Akdeniz havzası üzerinden seçilen çağdaş biyofilik otel örnekleri incelemesi sonucunda 14 biyofilik tasarım deseninin mekanlara uygulama yolları değerlendirilmiştir. Bu örneklerde oteller en çok biyofilik tasarımı doğal malzemelerin kullanımı, doğayla görsel bağlantı ve su ögelerinin kullanımı yoluyla projelere entegre etmişlerdir. Literatürdeki eksikler ve uygulamalardaki artış tespit edildikten sonra biyofilik tasarımın eğitimdeki yerinin sorgulanmasına sebep olmuştur. Türkiyede biyofilik tasarım eğitimi veren üniversiteler incelenmiş ve sayının oldukça az olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu doğrultuda örnek bir Stüdyo eğitimi sürecinin takibi ve yapılan anketler sonucunda öğrenciler üzerinden biyofilik tasarım eğitimine bakış açısı değerlendirilmiştir. Öğrencilerin dönem boyunca biyofilik tasarıma dair bakış açılarında önemli ölçüde değişikler olmuştur. Biyofilik mekanların tasarımında doğal malzemelerin kullanımı öğrenciler tarafından ilgi çekici görüldü ve çok tercih edildi. Bölüm 4.4. de otel örneklerinin incelenmesi ve analizi bölümünde, doğayla maddi bağlantı örüntüsünün sıklıkla kullanılan örüntülerden biri olduğu görülmüştür. Anket sonuçları dönem sonunda daha bilinçli ve farkındalıklarının artmış olduklarını göstermiştir.

Biophilic design is a design aimed at establishing nature-human connection in interior spaces. Today, increasing urban life limits our connection with nature more than ever. Biophilic design is a solution to this problem, allowing us to establish a nature-human connection in interior spaces. After the COVID-19 pandemic, the interest and increase in biophilic design has been observed in the literature and almost every sector. In particular, people have started to prefer hotels with biophilic elements in their hotel preferences. Biophilic design has been proven in different studies to be good for human well-being and physical and psychological health. In line with these benefits, biophilic hotels will play a major role in people's recreational accommodation. Biophilic design can be applied in interior spaces through the direct and indirect use of nature and imitation of nature. By identifying 14 Biophilic Design Patterns, Browning and his colleagues facilitated the implementation of biophilic design and provided tools for designers. This thesis study focuses on biophilic hotel design and education process. The increasing interest in biophilic design and the deficiency observed in the literature show us the importance of the education process in this field. The studio process is of great importance in interior architecture education. In this study, the studio process of biophilic hotel projects of 3rd year students of Yaşar University Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department was followed. Surveys were conducted to the students at the beginning and end of the semester. While the first survey included more general results, in the second survey results, students answered similar questions by taking their own projects into consideration. In these surveys, students' perspectives on biophilic design were evaluated. The data obtained in the study were obtained with qualitative and quantitative approaches. The literature review was conducted with a systematic method using Prisma diagrams and enabled us to see the deficiencies in the literature. The literature was evaluated by dividing it into the titles of Biophilic hotel design and biophilic design education. Then, the literature on biophilic hotel design and contemporary selected examples were examined in detail. It was determined that the relevant practices could not be adequately transferred to literature and education. The studio process and survey results that were followed were discussed in a separate section. In addition, a review was made of contemporary biophilic hotel examples. As a result, it was observed in the systematic literature review that there has been an increase in the literature in the field of biophilic design after COVID-19. Biophilic hotel design literature is very few, but it has been observed to increase in recent years. More studies are needed to develop the existing literature. Despite the deficiencies in the literature, there is an increase in the number of current biophilic hotel designs. As a result of the examination of contemporary biophilic hotel examples selected from the Mediterranean basin, the ways of applying 14 biophilic design patterns to spaces were evaluated. In these examples, hotels mostly integrated biophilic design into projects through the use of natural materials, visual connection with nature, and the use of water elements. After the deficiencies in the literature and the increase in applications were identified, the place of biophilic design in education was questioned. Universities providing biophilic design education in Turkey were examined and it was revealed that their number was quite low. In this direction, the perspective of biophilic design education was evaluated through the follow-up of a sample studio education process and the surveys conducted. There were significant changes in the students' perspectives on biophilic design throughout the semester. The use of natural materials in the design of biophilic spaces was found interesting and highly preferred by students. In Chapter 4.4., the examination and analysis of hotel examples, it was seen that the material connection with nature pattern was one of the frequently used patterns. The survey results showed that they were more conscious and their awareness increased at the end of the term.
