Studies in the literature show the effect of noise on the amplitude and latencies of cortical responses. This effect varies depending on the spectral-temporal characteristics of the stimuli (such as fricative features/periodicity features, envelope characteristics of sound, etc.), type of noise (intermittent noise, continuous noise, babble noise), signal-to-noise ratio (SNR, increasing/decreasing SNR ratios), and the interactions between them. However, the effect of these spectral-temporal characteristics on acoustic change responses in noise has not been a commonly explored topic. In this regard, the study investigated the effect of the frequency ramp properties on the cortical N1 response evoked by four different frequency ramp stimuli with different frequency ranges, obtained in both silent and noisy conditions. The study explored how the differences in ramp characteristics modulate the effect of noise on this response. A total of 20 participants with normal hearing (10 women, 10 men), aged 18-35, were presented with ramp stimuli of 900-2400Hz, 900-2700Hz, 900-3000Hz, and 900-3300Hz in silent, +5 SNR, and +10 SNR conditions, and cortical N1 responses were recorded. The analysis showed that, within each stimulus, the amplitudes decreased in noise, and latencies were only prolonged for the 900-2400 Hz stimulus. There was no change in latencies and amplitudes as the amounth of frequency change increased. No significant difference was found in N1 latency (p=0.329), and N1P2 amplitude (p=0.103) of 4 different stimuli used in the silent condition, in N1 latency (p=0.106), and N1P2 amplitude (p=0.854) of 4 different stimuli used in the +5 SGO condition, and in N1 latency (p=0.501), and N1P2 amplitude (p=0.577) of 4 different stimuli used in the +10 SGO condition (p>.05).This could be related to the insufficient amounth of frequency change used. When stimuli were presented in noise, the N1P2 amplitude reduction was similar across all stimuli. In other words, increased frequency change in the stimuli (with a higher ramp slope and more rapid change) did not reduce the effect of the noise on the response in terms of amplitude.
