Bu bağlamda, A'râf Sûresi 143. ayette geçen Hz.

The issue of rü'yatullah is an important belief issue that has been discussed in Islamic theology for centuries. Scholars of theology have thought deeply on this issue and justified their views with various evidences in line with their sectarian understanding. While the word“Rü'yet”means“to see”in the dictionary, the term“Rü'yetullah”is used in the sense that the believers will see Allah in the hereafter. Although the expression“Rü'yetullah”is not directly mentioned in the Holy Qur'an, people's requests to see Allah are mentioned. These requests are sometimes voiced by a disbeliever and sometimes by a prophet. As a matter of fact, the statement in Surah Al-An'am, verse 103,“The eyes cannot see Him, but He sees all eyes.”has created a consensus among Islamic scholars that Allah cannot be seen in this world. However, the issue of whether Allah can be seen in the Hereafter is a matter of serious disagreement among the schools of theology. Imam Mâturîdî argues that God can be seen in the hereafter and supports this view with both narrative and rational evidence. In this context, he evaluates the request of Moses in Surat al-A'râf, verse 143,“My Lord, show yourself to me so that I may see you”. According to Imam Mâturîdî, if this request had been impossible, Moses' making such a request would have meant that he did not know his Lord well enough, which is unthinkable for a prophet. Furthermore, instead of rejecting Moses' request outright, Allaah gave a conditional answer by saying,“If the mountain can stand still, then you can see me,”which opens the door to this view. Mâturîdi's other evidence is the statement in verses 22-23 of Surat al-Qiyâmah:“On that day there will be faces that will shine brightly; they will look at their Lord.”According to Mâturîdî, the word“evil eye”in this verse refers to seeing in the literal sense. Some commentators have interpreted the word“more”in the verse 26 of Surah Yunus as rü'yetullah,“Those who do good deeds will have better and more”. The fact that the hoped-for reward is seeing Allah supports this view. The Prophet's hadith,“On the Day of Resurrection you will see your Lord as you see the moon, and you will not be wronged in seeing Him,”also reinforces this view. When the Prophet was asked whether he had seen Allah, he replied,“I saw Him with my heart,”which, according to Mâturîdî, shows that this view is irrefutable. If this request had been impossible or leading to disbelief, the Prophet would have been expected to respond in a much harsher and definitive manner. According to Imam al-Mâturîdî, the method that should be followed in the matter of Rū'yatullah is to accept Rū'yat as far as the evidence goes, to exclude this vision from the attributes belonging to creatures, and not to go beyond the evidence and turn to interpretation and exegesis. As a result, the issue of Rü'yatullah requires a deep evaluation within the framework of both Qur'anic and hadith texts and theological principles. This study deals with this issue in detail, especially in the context of the Mâturîdî tradition
