Özet
Bu çalışmada ortaokul fen bilimleri dersi ''Basit Makineler'' ünitesinin deney uygulamalarının 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin akademik başarısına ve derse karşı tutumuna etkisi araştırılmıştır. Araştırmada yarı deneysel yöntemin ön test son test modeli tercih edilmiştir. Bunun için ilk aşama olarak kura ile deney ve kontrol grubu belirlenmiştir. Çalışma grubunu, 2024-2025 yılında Mersin ili, Tarsus ilçesindeki Kasım Ekenler Ortaokulunda öğrenim gören 8. sınıf öğrencilerinden seçilen 80 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Deney grubunda 40 ve kontrol grubunda 40 öğrenci araştırmaya dahil edilmiştir. Deney grubunda fen bilimleri dersi deney etkinlikleriyle desteklenirken, kontrol grubu ise derslerini ders kitabındaki etkinlikler ile işlemeye devam etmiştir. Araştırma verileri için güvenirliği ve madde güçlük tespiti yapılmış hazır“Basit Makineler Ünitesi Başarı Testi”ve“Fen ve Teknoloji Tutum Ölçeği”kullanılmıştır. Basit Makineler Ünitesi Başarı Testi ve Fen Bilimleri Dersi Tutum Ölçeği öğretim uygulamaları yapılmadan 1 hafta önce üniteye yönelik mevcut bilgi düzeylerini belirlemek için ön test ve uygulamadan 1 hafta sonra uygulamanın etkinliğini değerlendirmek için son test olarak uygulanmıştır. Toplanan veriler SPSS-22 istatistik programında analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmada, deneysel etkinliklerle derslerin yürütüldüğü öğrenciler ile geleneksel öğretim ile derslerin yürütüldüğü öğrencilerin başarılarını ve tutumlarını karşılaştırmak amacıyla öğrencilerin ön testleri kovaryant olarak kullanılarak ANCOVA ile analiz edilmiştir. Ayrıca deney ve kontrol gruplarının başarılarındaki değişim, ön test ve son test puanları üzerinden bağımsız ve bağımlı gruplar t-testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Deney ve kontrol grubuna uygulanan ön-test ve son-testlerden elde edilen toplam puanların aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma, düzeltilmiş ortalama ve standart hata değerleri hesaplanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda deney uygulamalarının kullanıldığı deney grubu ve deney grubu ön test ve son test uygulamaları arasında anlamlı düzeyde bir farklılık bulunmuştur (p<0.05). Çalışmanın sonuçlarının, fen bilimleri öğretiminde deney etkinliklerinin önemini ortaya koyması ve eğitim programlarına katkı sağlaması beklenmektedir.

In this study, the effect of the experimental applications of the“Simple Machines”unit of the secondary school science course on the academic success and attitude of the 8th grade students was investigated. In the study, the pre-test and post-test model of the quasi-experimental method was preferred. For this, the experiment and control group were determined by lot as the first stage. The study group consists of 80 students selected from 8th grade students studying at Kasım Ekenler Secondary School in Tarsus district of Mersin province in 2024-2025. 40 students in the experimental group and 40 students in the control group were included in the study. In the experimental group, the science lesson was supported by experimental activities, while the control group continued to teach their lessons with the activities in the textbook. For the research data,“Simple Machines Unit Achievement Test”and“Science and Technology Attitude Scale”were used. Simple Machines Unit Achievement Test and Science Course Attitude Scale were applied as a pre-test to determine the current knowledge levels for the unit 1 week before the teaching practices were carried out and as a post-test to evaluate the effectiveness of the application 1 week after the application. The collected data were analyzed in the SPSS-22 statistical program. In the study, in order to compare the achievements and attitudes of the students who were taught with experimental activities and the students who were taught with traditional teaching, the pre-tests of the students were analyzed with ANCOVA by using them as a covariant. In addition, the change in the achievements of the experimental and control groups was analyzed by t-test of independent and dependent groups based on pre-test and post-test scores. The arithmetic mean, standard deviation, corrected mean and standard error values of the total scores obtained from the pre-test and post-tests applied to the experimental and control groups were calculated. As a result of the research, a significant difference was found between the experimental group and the pre-test and post-test applications of the experimental group (p<0.05). The results of the study are expected to reveal the importance of experimental activities in science teaching and to contribute to education programs.
