Özet
Bu tez, C.S. Lewis'in Narnia Günlükleri serisinde yer alan ezoterik sembolleri incelemekte ve serinin yüzeyde bir çocuk fantazyası gibi görünmesine rağmen, derin katmanlarında evrensel ve ruhsal temaları barındırdığını ileri sürmektedir. Serinin yedi kitabı temel alınarak yapılan bu çalışmada, metinlerdeki ezoterik semboller belirlenmiş, bu semboller Hristiyan mistisizmi, Batı ezoterizmi ve mitolojik arketiplerle ilişkilendirilerek yorumlanmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında metinsel analiz, sembolik çözümleme ve karşılaştırmalı edebiyat yöntemleri kullanılarak Lewis'in eserinde insan ruhunun gelişim süreci ve evrensel hakikat arayışı gibi temaların nasıl temsil edildiği ortaya konmuştur. Bulgular, Narnia Günlükleri'nin yalnızca fantastik bir anlatıdan ibaret olmadığını; aksine, metafizik sorgulamalar içeren, çok katmanlı ve derinlikli bir edebi yapı sunduğunu göstermektedir. Çalışmada, serinin başlıca karakterlerinden Aslan'ın hem Hristiyan alegorisi hem de ezoterik gelenekte kozmik merkez arketipiyle örtüştüğü belirlenmiştir. Beyaz Cadı, ikilik ve karanlığın temsili olarak insanın içsel çatışmalarını sembolize ederken; dört çocuğun Narnia'daki yolculuğu bireyin ruhsal olgunlaşma sürecine karşılık gelmektedir. Serinin son kitabı olan Son Savaş'ta ele alınan kıyamet ve yeniden doğuş temaları ise ezoterik gelenekteki döngüsel zaman anlayışıyla uyum içerisindedir. Sonuç olarak, bu tez Narnia Günlükleri serisinin ezoterik semboller aracılığıyla insanlığın kadim bilgelik arayışını ve ruhsal dönüşümünü yansıttığını ortaya koymaktadır. Çalışma, yalnızca serinin anlam derinliklerini açığa çıkarmayı değil, aynı zamanda edebi eserlerde ezoterik sembolizmin işlevine dair kuramsal bir katkı sunmayı amaçlamaktadır.

This thesis explores the esoteric symbolism in C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia, arguing that the series transcends its surface-level narrative as a children's fantasy to explore profound spiritual and universal themes. Through a detailed analysis of the seven books in the series, this study identifies and interprets esoteric symbols, drawing connections to Christian mysticism, Western esotericism, and mythological archetypes. The research employs textual analysis, symbolic interpretation, and comparative literature approaches to reveal how Lewis' work reflects humanity's spiritual journey and quest for universal truths. The findings suggest that The Chronicles of Narnia is not merely a fantastical tale but a rich, multi-layered narrative that engages with timeless metaphysical questions. This work was carried out by analysing the esoteric symbols in Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia series. It aims to reveal the universal and spiritual themes of the text. Although The Chronicles of Narnia may seem like a children's tale on the surface, when examined in depth it contains a wealth of esoteric symbolism. This study analyses the seven books of the series from an esoteric perspective, arguing that the text is not just a fantastic story, but also a deep narrative that reflects man's spiritual quest and universal truths. The findings of the study revealed that the esoteric symbols in The Chronicles of Narnia enriched the semantic layers of the text. In particular, Aslan the Lion, as a divine being, coincides with the cosmic centre symbol in both Christian allegory and esoteric tradition. The White Witch, as the representative of duality and darkness, symbolizes the inner struggle of man. While the journey of the four children represents the spiritual development and inner transformation of man, the theme of apocalypse and rebirth in the book The Last War complies with the cyclical understanding of time in the esoteric tradition. In conclusion, this study has revealed that The Chronicles of Narnia is a profound literary work that tells readers universal truths and spiritual quest through esoteric symbols. The text is more than just a fantasy story, it is a universal narrative that reflects humanity's search for ancient wisdom. This study aims to contribute to both revealing the deep meanings of The Chronicles of Narnia and understanding the function of esoteric symbolism in literature.
