Özet
Sanal oyunlar, sosyal bilgiler öğretiminde etkili bir araç olarak öne çıkmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı, sosyal bilgiler dersinde kullandığımız sanal oyunların öğrenci başarısına etkisini incelemektir. Bu araştırmanın yöntemi ise; ön test son test kontrol gruplu deneysel bir desende tasarlanmıştır. Ön test son test kontrol gruplu modelde, tarafsız atama ile oluşturulmuş iki grup bulunur. Gruplardan biri deney grubu diğeri ise kontrol grubudur. Derste deney grubundaki öğrencilere sanal oyun yöntemiyle ders anlatılmış, kontrol grubundaki öğrencilere de programa göre eğitim verilmiştir. Her iki gruba da deney öncesinde ve deney sonrasında testler yapılmıştır. Uygulama sonunda elde edilen veriler SPSS paket programında bulunan bağımlı değişken t testi ve bağımsız değişken t testi tekniği uygulanarak analiz edilmiştir. Sonuçtaki bulgulara göre; kontrol grubu ile deney grubunun ön testleri benzerdir dolayısıyla gruplar homojendir. Grupların son testlerinin sonucunda ise sanal oyun yöntemi kullanılan deney grubunun puanlarının kontrol grubunun puanlarından daha fazla olması sanal oyun yönteminin kullanımının öğrencilerin akademik başarısına olumlu etkisi olduğunu göstermiştir.

Virtual games have emerged as an effective tool in social studies education.The goal of this study is to examine the effect of using virtual games in social studies classes on students' academic achievement. The research was designed using a pre-testpost-test control group experimental design. Inthis model, two groups are created throughrandom assignment one as the experimental group and the other as the control group. The lessons for the experimental group wereconducted using the virtual game method, while thecontrol group received instructionaccording to the standard curriculum. Both groups were given tests before and after theexperiment. The data obtained at the end of the application were analyzed using thedependent variable t-test and independent variable t-test techniques available in the SPSS package program. According to the findings, the pre-testscores of the control andexperimental groups were similar, indicating that the groups were homogeneous. However, the post-test results showed that the experimental group, which was taught through virtualgames, scored higher than the control group. This shows that the use of virtual games has apositive effect on students' academic achievement.
