Özet
“Gaziantep Kent Merkezinin Restorasyon Tarihçesi, Sabunhan Restorasyonu (Sabun ve Pekmez Müzesi) Örneği”konulu yüksek lisans tez çalışması kapsamına giren; 66,7 hektarlık kentsel sit alanındaki; kale, han, hamam, bedesten, cami, mescit, çeşme ve sivil mimari yapılar olan konakların ortak akıl ile kamu, yerel, sivil işbirliği dahilinde yürütülen restorasyon çalışmaları tek tek ele alınarak anlatılmış ve verilen fonksiyonlarla Gaziantep kent kimliğinin nasıl korunduğu, yaşatıldığı ve gelecek nesillere aktarıldığı konuları irdelenmiştir. Tez konusu kapsamına giren diğer bir konu ise sabunhane yapısının restorasyonudur. Metruk halde bulunan Sabunhan yapısının daha iyi anlaşılması için öncelikle yapının konumu, mülkiyet durumu, tarihçesi, yapı malzemeleri ve teknik özellikleri incelenmiştir. Zeytinyağı ve sabun üretiminde izlenen yöntem, teknik ve ekipmanlar ile Kilis, Antakya, Birecik, Antep ilçeleri ve Halep gibi yakın bölgedeki Osmanlı Dönemi sabunhane örnekleri incelenerek tipoloji oluşturulmuştur. Yapının rölöve, restitüsyon ve restorasyon projeleri doğrultusunda KUDEB Daire Başkanlığı tarafından yürütülen restorasyon çalışması ile yapıya verilen fonksiyonun kente sağladığı değerler ilişkisi değerlendirilmeye çalışılmıştır.

Being included in the scope of the M. A. thesis titled“Restoration History of Gaziantep City Centre, Restoration of Sabunhan (Soap and Molasses Museum) As An Example”, restoration work, which is carried out with common sense and cooperation of public, local and civilian endeavors, of castle, caravanserai, Turkish bath, covered Turkish bazaar, mosque, masjid, fountain and mansions as example of civilian architecture within the urban archeological site measured as 66,7 hectares is individually examined and explained. In view of the functions, the issues of how Gaziantep urban identity is protected, sustained and handed down the next generations are scrutinized. Another topic within the scope of the thesis is the restoration of Soap Production Facility (Sabunhane). The Soap Production Facility (Sabunhan) was found in an abandoned condition and in order to understand the construction better, the location, ownership statues, history, building materials and technical characteristics are examined at first. The typology is constituted by examining methods, techniques and equipment used for olive oil and soap production and the examples of Ottoman Era Soap Production Facilities in nearby regions such as Kilis, Antakya, Birecik, districts of Antep and Aleppo. By means of the restoration work conducted by department of KUDEB in the direction of building survey, restitution and restoration projects, the relationship between the function attributed to the building and the provided value to the city is tried to be evaluated.
