Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı, Bilgisayar Destekli Telaffuz Eğitimi (CAPT) araçlarından biri olan Rosetta Stone uygulamasının, 9. sınıf öğrencilerinin İngilizce telaffuz becerileri üzerindeki etkisini incelemektir. Araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ön test-son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubu, 2025 yılında Ankara'da bir devlet okulunda öğrenim gören ve dil seviyeleri eşit (A1) olan toplam 40 öğrenciden (20 deney, 20 kontrol) oluşmaktadır. 12 haftalık uygulama sürecinde deney grubu Rosetta Stone uygulaması ile eğitim alırken, kontrol grubu geleneksel öğretim müfredatını takip etmiştir. Öğrencilerin telaffuz performansları“Pronunciation Coach”yazılımı aracılığıyla ölçülmüştür. Araştırma bulguları, uygulama öncesinde grupların telaffuz becerileri arasında anlamlı bir fark olmadığını göstermiştir. Uygulama sonrasında ise deney grubunun telaffuz puanlarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir artış tespit edilirken, kontrol grubunda anlamlı bir değişim gözlenmemiştir. Gruplar arası karşılaştırmada, deney grubunun son test puanlarının kontrol grubundan anlamlı derecede yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak, anlık geri bildirim ve bireysel pratik imkanı sunan Rosetta Stone uygulamasının, geleneksel sınıf içi yöntemlere kıyasla öğrencilerin İngilizce telaffuz becerilerini geliştirmede daha etkili olduğu saptanmıştır. Teknoloji destekli bu tür araçların müfredata entegrasyonunun dil öğrenim sürecini hızlandırdığı sonucuna varılmıştır.

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of Rosetta Stone application, one of the Computer-Assisted Pronunciation Training (CAPT) tools, on the English pronunciation skills of 9th-grade students. A quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test control group, one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the study. The study group consists of a total of 40 students (20 experimental, 20 control) with equal language levels (A1) studying at a public school in Ankara in 2025. During the 12-week implementation process, the experimental group received training with the Rosetta Stone application, while the control group followed the traditional teaching curriculum. Students' pronunciation performance was measured through“Pronunciation Coach”software. Research findings showed that there was no significant difference between the groups' pronunciation skills before the implementation. After the implementation, a statistically significant increase was detected in the pronunciation scores of the experimental group, while no significant change was observed in the control group. In the between-group comparison, it was determined that the post-test scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group. As a result, it was found that the Rosetta Stone application, which offers instant feedback and individual practice opportunities, is more effective in improving students' English pronunciation skills compared to traditional classroom methods. It was concluded that the integration of such technology-supported tools into the curriculum accelerates the language learning process.
