Özet
Bu tezde, Kur'ân-ı Kerîm esas alınarak âhiret kavramı lügat anlamı ve ıstılahî çerçevesiyle ele alınmış; kavramın bağlamsal anlamları ortaya konulmuştur. İslâm öncesi Arap toplumlarının ve Mekke müşriklerinin âhireti dünya hayatı ekseninde nasıl anlamlandırdıkları, Yahudilerin âhiret anlayışına yükledikleri anlamlar ile Hristiyanların âhireti daha çok Îsâ Mesîh merkezli bir anlayış çerçevesinde yorumlamaları, kutsal metinler ve Kur'ân-ı Kerîm ışığında değerlendirilmiştir. Ardından âhiret hayatını oluşturan temel evreler ana hatlarıyla açıklanmıştır. Nihayet âhiret inancının bireysel düzlemde insan davranışlarını şekillendirdiği, psikolojik huzur sağladığı ve ahlâkî sorumluluk bilincini güçlendirdiği ortaya konulmuştur. Toplumsal düzlemde ise bu inancın ahlâkî değerlerin korunmasına, toplumsal düzenin sağlanmasına ve erdemli bir yapının oluşmasına katkı sunduğu tespit edilmiştir. Buna karşılık, âhiret inancından uzaklaşan birey ve toplumların manevi ve ahlâkî açıdan çeşitli sorunlarla karşılaştıkları vurgulanmıştır. Kur'ân-ı Kerîm'in âhiret inancına sürekli olarak dikkat çekmesi, bu inancın birey ve toplum hayatındaki belirleyici önemini açıkça ortaya koymaktadır.

This study, starting from the fact that God created man in the most perfect way, endowing him with reason and senses and making him a responsible being, examines the belief that man will be held accountable in the hereafter for his actions in this world. In this thesis, the concept of the hereafter is examined from a lexical and terminological perspective; the conceptions of the hereafter of pre-Islamic Arab societies, the polytheists of Mecca, and the People of the Book are discussed using sacred texts. Then, the basic stages constituting the afterlife are explained in outline. Subsequently, the effects of the belief in the hereafter on the individual and society are examined in different dimensions. In this context, it has been shown that the belief in the hereafter shapes the individual's behavior, provides psychological peace, and strengthens the sense of moral responsibility. It has also been determined that this belief contributes to the preservation of moral values, the maintenance of social order, and the formation of a virtuous structure at the social level. Conversely, it has been emphasized that individuals and societies that distance themselves from the belief in the hereafter face various spiritual and moral problems. The Quran's constant emphasis on belief in the afterlife clearly reveals its crucial importance in individual and societal life.
