Being occupies a central place in philosophy as one of the most fundamental problems of human thought. Does being exist? What is the purpose of being? Is there order in the universe? Is the universe finite? Are we free in our actions? Such questions form the fundamental areas of debate in the philosophy of ontology. From the very beginning of the language learning process, individuals demonstrate an inclination to question. This phenomenon is accepted as a natural and necessary impulse (drive) unique to humans in the context of cognitive development. This inclination to question, which in childhood is more focused on identifying objects, transforms into a search for meaning as the ability to think develops. The capacity for thought and inquiry is a fundamental characteristic that distinguishes humans from other living beings, and the effort to make sense of one's surroundings and oneself has been expressed in different ways throughout history. The drawings on cave walls are the earliest examples of the human desire to both recognise one's surroundings and make one's existence visible. In this context, throughout history, individuals have used art as a fundamental means of expression and communication, driven by the need to leave an existential mark. The act of painting can be defined as a means of recording (documenting), motivated by the consciousness of“I exist, I am here”and aiming to make the individual's spiritual/physical presence permanent. Works of art are influenced by the social, cultural and individual conditions in which the artist finds themselves; these conditions shape their questioning of existence and the anxieties they experience. Production that lacks emotion and meaning cannot be considered art; every work of art reflects the answer to an existential question or the process of searching for that answer. This study aims to examine how artists who experience the pain of existence reflect this anxiety in their works from the perspective of existential philosophy.
