ABSTRACT THE EVALUATION OF PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION ABOUT RELATION OF AMONG THE TEACHERS' DEMOCRATIC ATTITUDE AND BEHAVIORS, CHILDREN DEMOCRATIC BEHAVIORS AND RELEVANCE OF THE CURRICULUM Çamkerten, Funda Master of Eds. The Department of Education Curriculums and Instruction Advisor : Prof. Dr. Tanju Gürkan October 2001, i - Xi + 230 pages The aim of this study is to prove the relations between democratic attitudes and behaviors of teachers and childrens in the last stage of pre-school education. Along with this general purpose, the place of democracy training in the child-centered curriculum of the pre-school education has been discussed in the survey. The sampling of the research included five and six years old children (early-childhood) and their teachers from thirty of elemantary schools in the center of Ankara and the distribution has been taken in according to socio economics level into the scope of this survey. To obtain data in this research ; attitude scales and observation techniques were used, to measure up the teachers attitudes“Teacher Opinionaire On Democracy that was developed by the U.S.A. Attitude Research Laboratory was used. In addition to this, to determine both the teachers's and children's democratic behaviors, an observation form wasThe analysis of the data collected by measure have been realized by a computer media using SPSS statistical program. The data obtained have been described by frequency ( f ), percentage ( % ) and arithmetical average (x ) techniques, in order to determine the significance between the measurements according to ”socio-economics level variable", changes -Wilcoxon Ranks with Prompt Test - and -Kruskal Wall is H Test - has been implemented. At the end of the study, findings were compared and discussed in the direction of purpose of the survey. The results of survey are as follows; The level of kindergarden teacher's democratic attitudes and behaviors was middle. At the begining of the semester, the level of infant's democratic behaviors was lower but at the finishing of the semester, the level of infant's democratic behaviors was middle. The influence of socio-economic level was found meaningless about democratic attitudes and behaviors between kindergarden teachers and their infants. Finaly, kindergarden curriculum which aim and teaching activities was found sufficient; goals, behavioral objectives and evaluation form was found partially sufficient; subject, content, instruction methods and techniques was found insufficient about developing democratic behaviors.
