Özet
Bu tez, toplumsal hareketler ile mizah arasındaki olası ilişkiye odaklanmaktadır. Bu odak doğrultusunda;“mizahın, toplumsal hareketler üzerindeki etkileri nelerdir?”sorusuna cevap aranmış ve bu arayış Gezi Parkı eylemleri örneği üzerinden hayat bulmuştur. Çalışma bu kontekste, mizahın toplumsal hareketler üzerinde negatif bir etkiye sahip olduğunu ileri sürmektedir. Böylesi bir iddianın tespiti, büyük ölçüde,“mizahın”ve“toplumsal hareketlerin”doğalarını anlamak ve bu iki olgunun tarih içerisindeki serüvenine bakmakla mümkündür. Bu açıdan çalışmada, hem mizahın tarihsel seyir içerisinde yüklendiği yeni işlevler ve anlamlara, hem de toplumsal hareketlerin çağlara göre değişen yapısına ve işlevlerine odaklanılarak;“Gezi Parkı eylemleri”ve“mizah”arasındaki ilişkinin mahiyeti mercek altına alınmıştır. Tezde amaca yönelik örnekleme tekniği kullanılarak; Gezi eylemleri süresince mizah oluşturma amacıyla kullanılan sözlü, yazılı ve aksiyonel öğeler örneklem ölçütü olarak belirlenmiştir. Bu çerçevede mizahın, -iddia edilenin aksine- Gezi Hareketi açısından yüklendiği negatif pozisyon irdelenmiş ve toplumsal hareketlere yansıyan olumsuz etkileri ortaya çıkarılmıştır.

This thesis focuses on the possible relationship between social movements and humour. In line with this focus, it seeks to answer the question, 'What are the effects of humour on social movements?' and this quest has been brought to life through the example of the Gezi Park protests. In this context, the study argues that humour has a negative impact on social movements. Establishing such a claim is largely possible by understanding the nature of 'humour' and 'social movements' and examining the historical journey of these two phenomena. From this perspective, the study focuses on both the new functions and meanings that humour has acquired throughout history and the changing structure and functions of social movements across different eras, examining the nature of the relationship between the 'Gezi Park protests' and 'humour'. Using a purposeful sampling technique, verbal, written, and action-based elements used to create humour during the Gezi protests were selected as the sampling criteria. Within this framework, contrary to claims, humour's negative position in relation to the Gezi Movement was examined, and its negative effects on social movements were revealed.
