Özet
Kentsel mekân, insanın bedeni, algıları ve duyuları aracılığıyla deneyimlediği çok katmanlı bir yaşam-dünyası teşkil eder. Bu çalışma, İstanbul'un en kaotik kentsel odak noktalarından biri olan Mecidiyeköy'ü fenomenolojik duyumsama bağlamında değerlendirmektedir. Amaç, Mecidiyeköy'de ortaya çıkan bedensel ve duyusal deneyimleri deşifre etmek suretiyle çalışmanın kendine özgü ürettiği mimari temsil dili sayesinde görünür kılmaktır. Bu doğrultuda, mekânların kavranışına dair bir yeni bir okuma denemesi geliştirilmesi ve bunun literatüre sunulması hedeflenmektedir. Araştırma, kent içerisindeki deneyim süreçlerini“Karşılaşma Anları”adı altında parçalayarak bir sorun haline getirir. Karşılaşma Anları, fenomenoloji bağlamında kuramsallaştırılır, mimaride ve mimari temsildeki karşılığı örnekler üzerinden somutlaştırılır, Mecidiyeköy Viyadüğü altında gerçekleştirilen bir yürüyüş sayesinde mimari temsil düzlemine çekilir ve ortaya çıkan temsil dilinde yeniden bir araya getirilerek kentsel mekâna dair bütüncül bir üretim gerçekleştirilir. Bu üretim süreci yaşam-dünyasındaki bir deneyimi kâğıt üzerinde yeniden kurgulaması yönüyle geleneksel mimari temsil diline getirilmiş bir eleştiri niteliğindedir. Mimarlığın yalnızca yapılı çevreden ibaret olmadığını, mekânı kuran ve anlamlandıran asıl şeyin olay, hareket ve eylem olduğunu dile getiren Bernard Tschumi'nin Manhattan Transkriptleri, çalışmanın özgün temsil dili olan“Transkripsiyon”yönteminin referans noktasıdır. Bu bağlamda“Mecidiyeköy Transkripsiyonları”başlığı çatısı altında karşılaşma anlarını açığa çıkaran ve fotoğraf, plan veya kesit, diyagram, (iç ses) ve [açıklama] olarak adlandırılan beş fragmandan müteşekkil transkriptler üretilmiştir. Özetle, bu çalışma karşılaşmaların fenomenolojisini ve Mecidiyeköy Transkripsiyonlarını aynı düzlemde düşünmesi yönüyle mekânsal deneyimlerin yalnızca fiziksel çevreyle sınırlı olmadığını; olay, eylem, rastlantı ve bedensel algı ile birlikte şekillendiğini ve bunu mümkün kılan fenomenolojik duyumsamanın mimari temsil diliyle ifade edilerek yeni bir okuma zemini kurulabileceğini göstermektedir.

Urban space constitutes a multilayered life-world experienced through the human body, perception, and the senses. This study examines Mecidiyeköy, one of Istanbul's most chaotic urban nodes, within a phenomenological framework. It aims to render visible the bodily and sensory experiences that emerge in Mecidiyeköy by deciphering them through an original architectural language of representation developed by the study itself. In doing so, it seeks to propose a new mode of reading spatial experience and to contribute to the existing literature. The research problematizes processes of urban experience by fragmenting them into what it terms“Moments of Encounter.”These moments are theorized within the context of phenomenology; their counterparts in architecture and architectural representation are concretized through examples; and, through a walk conducted beneath the Mecidiyeköy Viaduct, they are translated onto the plane of architectural representation. Reassembled within the resulting representational language, they generate a holistic production concerning urban space. As this process reconstructs an experience of the lifeworld on paper, it also constitutes a critique of conventional architectural representation. Bernard Tschumi's Manhattan Transcripts, which argue that architecture cannot be reduced solely to the built environment and that what fundamentally constructs and gives meaning to space are event, movement, and action, serve as the primary reference point for the study's original representational method, termed“Transcription.”Within this framework, a series of transcripts were produced under the title Mecidiyeköy Transcriptions. These transcripts reveal Moments of Encounter and consist of five fragments: photograph, plan or section, diagram, (inner voice), and [explanation]. In summary, by considering the phenomenology of encounters and the Mecidiyeköy Transcriptions on the same plane, this study demonstrates that spatial experience is not limited to the physical environment alone, but is also shaped by event, action, chance, and bodily perception. It further argues that the phenomenological sensibility that makes such experience possible can be articulated through an architectural language of representation, thereby establishing a new ground for interpreting urban space.
