Özet
Kısa özet Plastik Cerrahi Hastalarında Beden Almsı Hoşnutsuzluğu, Benlik Değeri ve Kavm Ayşe Altan Bu araştırmada, plastik cerrahi hastalan, beden algısı, kaygı düzeyi ve benlik değeri açısından anksiyete hastaları ve öğrenci grubuyla karşılaştırılmıştır. Aynı zamanda, bölgesel beden hoşnutsuzluğunu ölçen Vücut Dismorfık Bozukluk Taraması- Kendini Değerlendirme Formunun (BDDE-SR) Türkçe versiyonunun geçerlilik ve güvenilirliğini saptamak da amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada plastik cerrahi grubunun anksiyete, beden algısı ve benlik değeri açısından diğer gruplardan bariz farklılıklar göstereceği öngörülmüştür. Bunun dışında, grup dikkate alınmadığında beden algısından duyulan memnuniyetsizliğin, anksiyete düzeyi benlik değeriyle ilişkili olacağı öngörülmüştür. Örneklem grubuplastik cerrahi klinikleri, Marmara Üniversitesi hastanesi psikiyatri polikliniği ve lisans öğrencilerinden oluşmuştur. Kullanılan ölçekler, Vücut dismorfık bozukluk Taraması- Kendini değerlendirme formu, Beden Ağısı ölçeği. Erişkinlerde Benlik Değeri Kaynakları Envanteri ve Dört Sistem Endişe Envanteridir. Çalışmanın sonucu, plastik cerrahi hastalarıyla diğer gruplar arasında bölgesel beden algısı hoşnutsuzluığu açısından bir fark olduğunu göstermiştir ama diğer açılardan bir fask görülememiştir. Buna ek olarak, beden algısından duyulan hoşnutsuzluğun, hem anksiyete hem de benlik değeriyle ilgisi olduğu saptanmıştır. Ayrıca, BDDE-SR'nin geçerlilik ve güvenilirlik değerlerinin yeterli olduğu saptanmıştır. Bu bulgularun sonucunda, plastik ameliyat için başvuran kişleri, diğerlerinden ayıran farkın tüm bedenden duyulan hoşnutsuzluktan çok, belli beden bölgelerinden duyulan hoşnutsuzluk olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Aynı zamanda benlik değerinin beden algısı hoşnutsuzluğuyla ilgili olduğu da ortaya çıkmıştır. vı

Abstract Body Image Dissatisfaction, Self-Esteem and Anxiety in Plastic Surgery Patients Ayşe Altan The aim of the present study is to compare body image dissatisfaction, anxiety level, and self-esteem of the plastic surgery patients with that of anxiety patients and undergraduate students. Also, the present study is aimed to investigate reliability and validity of BDDE-SR (Body Dysmorphic Disorder Examination-Self-Report) that measures partial body image dissatisfaction. It was predicted that, surgery group will differ from anxiety group and student group in terms of anxiety, body image dissatisfaction, and self-esteem. Also, regardless of group, body image dissatisfaction is expected to be related to both anxiety and self-esteem. The sample for the study was gathered from plastic surgery clinics, psychiatry departments of hospitals and undergraduate students. The scales used were Body Dysmorphic Disorder Examination- Self Report, Body Image and level of satisfaction Scale, Adult sources of Self-esteem inventory and Four systems anxiety questionnaire. The results showed that, there was difference between plastic surgery patients and other groups only in terms of partial body image dissatisfaction, but there was no such difference in other variables. In addition to that, both, partial and overall body image dissatisfaction was related to self-esteem and anxiety. Also, BDDE-SR was found to show acceptable internal consistency, test-retest reliability and concurrent validity. Accordingly, it was concluded that, the factor that motivates individuals to seek plastic surgery was the dissatisfaction that they experienced because of specific body parts rather than the whole body. Also, self-esteem of the individuals was found to be influenced by body image satisfaction.
