Özet
Günümüzde çağdaş eğitim anlayışının bir gereği olarak eğitim materyalleri, eğitim programlarının vazgeçilmez bir öğesi durumundadır. Fakat bu güne kadar konu ile ilgili yapılan araştırmalar eğitim materyallerine ilişkin problemlerin genel eğitim problemleri arasındaki yerini koruduğunu göstermektedir. Eğitim materyallerinin öğretim sürecinde üstlendiği işlev, eğitim amaçlarına en üst düzeyde ulaşmayı sağlamak, öğretim etkinliğini artırmak ve niteliği yükseltmektir.“İlköğretim Birinci Kademe Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretimi Coğrafya Ünitelerinin İşlenişinde Laboratuvar ve Görsel-İşitsel Materyal Kullanımının Öğrencilerin Niteliksel Gelişimine Etkisinin Değerlendirilmesi”adlı çalışmamızla ilköğretim okullarında Sosyal Bilgiler öğretiminde kullanılan materyaller incelenmiştir. Araştırmamızın amacı Sosyal Bilgiler dersinin işlenişinde materyal kullanımının öğrencilerin öğrenmesine katkısı ve niteliksel gelişimine olan etkisini incelemek ve değerlendirmektir. Bu amaçla örneklem olarak seçilen okullardaki tespit edilen farklı sınıflarda, farklı tekniklerle işlenen dersler takip edilmiş ve derslerde materyal kullanımının önemi ortaya çıkarılmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu araştırmanın sonuçlarını kısaca söyle özetlemek mümkündür:1 -İlköğretim okullarında öğretmenlerin kullanmaları için yeteri kadar araç- gereç bulunmaktadır fakat öğretmenler bu araç-gereçlerden çeşitli sebeplerden dolayı yeteri kadar faydalanamamaktadır. 2-Derslerde araç gereç kullanımı öğrencinin derse daha iyi motive olmasını sağlamakta ve öğrenciyi etkinliğe sevk etmekte etkilidir. 3-Araç gereç kullanılarak işlenen bir ders araç gereç kullanılmadan işlenen bir derse göre daha verimli geçmektedir. Bu da öğrencilerin gelişimleri üzerinde etkilidir.

Today teaching materials are. as a requirement for modern understanding of teaching, are an indispensable element of teaching programs. But the researhs that have been done so far illustrate that the problems related to the teaching materials still keep their position among the general problems of education. The function that the teaching materials undertake during the teaching process is to provide with achieving the goals of education at the highest degree, and to increase the effectiveness of teaching and quality. During our study titled“Evaluation of the effect of the Usage of laboratories and audio- visual materials, in teaching first stage primary education teaching social science geograpy units, on the students' development in quality”the material used in teaching social science in primary schools have been examined. The study aims at examining and evaluating the contribution of using materials in social science courses to the students' learning and its effecet on their development in quality. Accordingly, the lessons tought by using various techniques in the different classes determined in the schools chosen as an exemplification were observed and the importance of using materials in the lessons was tried to be highlighted. İt is possible to summarize the results of this study as follows:1 -Enough materials are present for the teachers to use in primary schools; however, the teachers can't make enough use of these materials due to some reasons. 2-Using materials during the lessons provides with the student better motivating to the course and is effective in directing the student to effectiveness. 3-A lesson tought by making use of materials is more productive than the one which no material is used. And this is effective on the students' development.
