Özet
ÖZET Bu çalışmanın amacı; kişilerin sahip oldukları teknik-mekanik yeteneklerin, iş performansı üzerindeki etkilerini incelemek ve Kara Kuvvetleri Komutanlığı bünyesindeki Tankçı, Topçu, Muhabere gibi teknik ağırlıklı sınıflarda kullanılan Uzman Personel Seçim Sistemini geliştirmeye yönelik önerilerde bulunmaktır. Çalışmada öncelikle araştırmanın bağımsız değişkenlerini oluşturan altı farklı boyuttaki teknik-mekanik yetenekler belirlenmiştir. Daha sonra araştırmanın bağımlı değişkenleri olan muharebe simülatörü performansı ve akademik başarı performans kriterleri belirlenmiştir. Kara Kuvvetlerinin bir birliğinde yapılan alan çalışması neticesinde elde edilen bilgilerin analizleri sonucunda şu gibi sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır. Teknik- mekanik yetenek seviyeleri yüksek çıkan kişilerin, muharebe simulator performansı ve akademik başarı performansının da yüksek çıktığı gözlemlenmiştir. Elde edilen sonuç karşısında personel seçim sürecine ilişkin şu öneri ortaya konmuştur; teknik ağırlıklı görevlerde istihdam edilecek personelin seçimi esnasında, adaylara teknik-mekanik yeteneklerini ölçebilen psikoteknik testler uygulanmalıdır ve elde edilen sonuçlar seçim sürecinde kullanılmalıdır. Örneklemin teknik-mekanik yetenek seviyeleri ve performans kriterleri ile mezun oldukları okullar (dolayısıyla aldıkları eğitimin içeriği) kıyaslandığında; beklentiler doğrultusunda, Teknik Lise ve Meslek Yüksek Okulu kökenli öğrencilerin, diğer öğrencilere göre olumlu yönde farklılık gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir. Bu durum ise bizleri şu sonuca götürmüştür; kişilerin öğrencilik dönemlerinde aldıkları eğitimin; yetenekleri ve gelecekteki iş performansları üzerinde etkisi vardır.

ABSTRACT The purpose of the study is to examine the effects of technical & mechanical abilities over job performance and according to the results of the analyzes to make suggestions to develop Personnel Selection Process used especially in the technically dominated corps such as Armour, Artillery, Signal in Turkish Land Forces. In the first stage, technical & mechanical abilities were determined. These abilities, which were composed of six different dimensions, were independent variables of the research. In the second stage, performance criteria were determined. These criteria, which were dependent variables of the study, were battle simulator performance and academic performance. After the administration of the inventory to a sample of 103 NCOs in a unit of Turkish Land Forces in Ankara, it has been observed that the part of the sample who has high technical and mechanical ability scores, get better result in battle simulator performance and academic performance. Significance of this result over Personnel Selection Process can be concluded in this way; in the selection process of personnel, especially recruited for technically dominated classes, special kinds of psychometric tests should be administered in order to assess the technical and mechanical ability level of the candidates. And the results of these tests should be used during the assessment of the candidates. In the study another analyzes was carried out between the kinds of schools were sample graduated from and technical-mechanical ability and performance criteria levels of NCOs. As in the expectations, it has been observed that students with Technical High School origin have better results than the others. This result shows us that the content and the kind of education is a dominant factor over the development of some special abilities and future job performance.
