ABSTRACT We face the“free zone”or“free trade zone”terms as the effective tools for the countries which want to get profits of this new vision of the world. Developing countries use this tool to let the foreign capital get in the country to use cheaper means of production and cheaper labour, in an area that is independent from the national tax and foreign trade regulations of the related country. And while foreign capitals use the excess means of production of the country in free zones, they also let the new technology usage get faster in the developing country. Altough“free zone”terms refer to similar specifications in all countries, when we observe the applications we find out differences those depend on the different needs of these countries. Even the most important of these differences concern the tax regulations applied in free zones, there are some differences in the structures and operating conditions of these zones. This study's aim is to find out these differences and to identify the effects of Europen Union entering process on Turkey Free zones. This study consists of four sections; in the first section the“free zone”concept and in the second section free zones operating in the important parts of the world are identified. In the third section free zones operating in Turkey are examined and in the final section effects of the European Union entering process to the free zones of Turkey are clarified. VI
