Özet
Özellikle son 10 yıldır, sürdürülebilirlik kavramı insanların doğal çevreyle etkileşiminden doğan problemlere çözüm olarak önerilmekte ve sürdürülebilir kalkınma kavramı kentsel gelişme açısından pek çok değişik görüşün geliştirilmesine olanak tanımaktadır. Kavramın içeriğinde bulunan belirsizliklere rağmen, kentsel sürdürülebilirlik, pek çok disiplinle birlikte yurt içi ve yurt dışı platformlarda önemli bir mutabakat alanı oluşturmuştur. Bu nedenle, ilgili kavramları sürdürülebilirlik, yaşanabilirlik ve hakçalık olan sürdürülebilir kentsel gelişme konusu kentsel planlama teorisi ve pratiği üzerinde önemli etkilere sahiptir. Bu araştırma Dikmen Vadisindeki kentsel dönüşüm sürecinin sürdürülebilirlik, yaşanabilirlik ve hakçalık kavramları çerçevesinde analiz edilmesi üzerine odaklanmaktadır. Bu süreçte yer alan kentsel aktörlerin sürece dahil olma biçimleri, kurdukları ilişkisel ağlar ve süreç içerisinde izledikleri yolların incelenmesi araştırmanın içeriğini oluşturmaktadır. Kentsel sürdürülebilirliğin temelini oluşturan kentsel gelişmenin çevresel, ekonomik ve sosyal boyutlarına karşı bu aktörlerin geliştirdiği yaklaşımlar çalışmada incelenen konulardır. Dikmen Vadisindeki kentsel gelişme sürecine referansla, kentsel sürdürülebilirliğin bağlam bağımlı özelliklerinin vurgulanması çalışmanın ana konusudur.

Especially over the last decade, the sustainability concept is offered as the solution to most problems associated with human interaction with the natural environment and the concerns about the concept of sustainable development have led to many diversified views in terms of urban development. Despite the vagueness that the concept involves, substantial areas of agreement over the concept of urban sustainability have developed both at the national and international level, as well as in different disciplines. Therefore, the sustainable urban development with its related concepts sustainability, livability and equity has prominent impact on urban planning theory and practice. This research has been focused on an analysis of the urban transformation process in Dikmen Valley within the context of the concepts: sustainability, livability and equity. It has examined the involvement of a wide range of the urban agents in this process, the relational networks they constructed and the ways in which they took part in this process. The approaches of the urban agents towards the environmental, economic and social dimensions of urban development that underpin the notions of urban sustainability constitute the bulk of the subjects that are to be examined in this research. The contextual characteristic of the urban sustainability debate constitutes the main theme of the research with reference to the urban development process in Dikmen Valley.
