WATER QUALITY MODELLING OF THE RIVER BUYUK MELEN AND BRANCHES SUMMARY Key Words : The Efteni Basin, The River Buyuk Melen, Water quality class, The Modelling of the water quality, QUAL2EU, QUAL2K The research in the River Büyük Melen and its branches, between October 2000 and September 2001 every month the water samples were taken periodically and analised from eleven different points to check the water quality class and obtain the application models. These water samples which were taken; the color, DO, pH, COD, BOD, N02“-N, N03”~N, NH4+-N, P04+-P, SO^, CHL-A, Cr, Fe, Cu, Pb, Zn, Fenol, CN, Fekal Koliform, Ca, SS, Mg, bicarbonat, total hardness, total alcalinite, the parameters of electrical conductivity were examined. The obtained results from the water samples were checked and eveluated according to the water pollution regulations, EU and the quality criterions of the water classes. The regulator which will be built in the water basin is the value of A and C group parameters the IV. quality class, according to B group parameters are HL class, D group parameters are n. clas water quality. According to EU values the water quality classes which had been evaluated before were found out approximately harmonious. In another study which was found BMWP, TBI and BBI there were clearly harmonious between our study and the study above. In addition to this study these values which were taken out as yearly, drought and rainy terms were interpreted on the arithmetical avarge and their relations With the causes of pollution and polluted sources were searched and then this data was used QUAL2EU and QUAL2K with the river. In modelling study of model calibration drought and rainy terms avarge consantrastion were used yearly. The model results which had been supplied were evaluated for QUAL2EU 15 parameters for QUAL2K 3 parameters. Its model parameters mostly were harmonized with the evaluated values. In order to be drinking water the river Büyük Melen, different scenarios with the help of mathematical modelling were produced and the solutions were put forward. According to the results of the scenarios tb.e pollution system pn the river Büyük Melen, the spreading pollution load has been found highly effective. XXV
